Wireless keyboards problems..HP PC

Hi My pc wireless keyboard(HP) seems to have a 'mind' of its own. On power up it takes ages before I can use the keyboards and often..erractic usage..then it could be 20min or sometimes more before its OK.

The mouse which share the same wireless controls have no problems.

Any ideas what could be happenings..checking the control panel and keyboards it says its working properly.

Hi Salty bone

try uninstalling the drivers, and reseting the system, and reenable the the USB port, for the drivers, for the keyboard, install the drivers for the keyboard, (specific for the model)
try again

Hey there saltybone!
Here's a few ideas for you:
1-Press the reset button on the bottom of the keyboard, if it has one.
2-Press the reset button on the "control module" , "transceiver"or whatever the thing that plugs into the back of your computer is called.
3-Change the batteries in the keyboard. Then reset them, again.
4-Don't disregard the fact that the keyboard may have gone bad.

Pc spacebar`

Not being funny, but is the keyboard clean. Have you tried using a vacuum cleaning to try to clean the keyboard? You could also try using a compressed air can to clean the keyboard. If this fails, then it may be time for a new keyboard to be fitted. Another problem that happens is that the contacts under the keys wear and then they don't make full contact. Hope this will help. Good luck. Mind you this day an age it may be cheaper to buy a replacement laptop than to get the keyboard replaced.

My wireless keyboard seems to be selective about which letters to acknowledge whenI type any faster than a two year old despite new batteries It is the one that came with the hp iq 775 touch screen desktop...

Wireless keyboards do have some delay, especially when the batteries are low, are you sure the batteries have a charge? Sometimes even new batteries are dead or very weak.

Some wireless keyboards only have a range of a few feet, but, moving it closer kinda defeats the purpose of having one in the first place.

Have you tried to go to (classic view): start>settings>control panel>keyboards... to make adjustments?

USB ports all seem troublesome

You cannot use wireless keyboard or USB keyboard in setting up the computer BIOS, what you need is a PS2 keyboard, if your motherboard supported USB booting, in Boot section of your BIOS change the Boot Priority to USB Generic Device, after you change the boot priority change the First Boot to Removable Device or USB Generic Device.. and after that save your configuration and restart the computer.. you must put the USB stick first before you configure the BIOS.. Keyboard sometime doesn't response my hit

What?  No, that's pretty whacked.  Does it happen in all OS, even if you boot to a LiveCD?  I think your OS has a wacky driver or IME loaded for it, but it could be an unplugged (or bad USB connection) thing all right.  Get in there and confirm your connections are solid, and check your IME (input method filter, e.g. for typing in Thai.)
