Could be a device has failed. Unplug all devices from the computer. Hard drive, cd drive etc.....anything that uses power. the only thing drawing power should be the motherboard. Try the power. If it comes up then power down and plug in the devices one at a time power back up and repeat for each device. if it doesn't come up then the last device connected may have failed. If the power still doesn't come up then pull all the boards and memory and try again connecting one board at a time. Still no, pull the cmos battery and check it. Still no power check the power switch and connections. Try to start the computer by shorting across the power switch buttons. Still no power...make sure it's plugged in.

My hp pavillion 503n has a amber light in front...power supply fan comes on but doesnt power up

This could still be a power supply issue. You can buy a power supply tester. This will tell you if the power supply is putting out power to all of the cables.
The other cause of this issue could be a motherboard issue. HP would have to replace the motherboard. A lot of the time HP make their mother boards to fit only their cases. This makes it hard to place a non HP board into a HP case.

Gm 5472 won't turn on

This either an issue with the power supply or motherboard. The best way to test is to replace the power supply and try to power it on to see if it works.

Something else you can try is, unplug all cables from the PC, open the case and the plug only the power in, turn it on and check to see if the fans turn on. If the fans turn on then it's most likely an issue with the motherboard but the best way to test is to replace the power supply and test.

Hope this Helps

Bought a new power supply and still my biostar p4tca pro motherboard isnt letting it to power up? all wires are hooked up right. now thinking the motherboard is bad? anything i can do to prove that this is...

Make sure that the 20-pin ATX connector and the 4-pin aux. power connector are securely plugged into the motherboard and that the power supply's switch is in the "On" position. If the problem persists, you can try testing the power supply with a different motherboard and computer. If the power supply powers the other computer, it is likely the motheboard that is bad and not the power supply.
Hope this has been helpful. Good luck.

Doesnt boot up all the time

well I guess this is a major concern. I believe whenever you are trying to turn on the laptop, it keeps getting off. To isolate this issue whether it is a motherboard problem or power supply, remove the cables and battery on the laptop. Press and hold the power button for 8-12 secs. Then reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop. Turn the power on. If it does not lit, check the lights on the keyboard. If there is no lit, there is a problem on the motherboard and that you need to call BenQ. Otherwise it is a power supply problem then you need to replace the power supply by calling BenQ...

Actually my system is having the problem like motherboard LED is not glowing, powersupply fan processor fan not spinning sometimes it works properly by putting supply ON. All power supplies are normal from...

I would still say it is power supply! Check with power supply from another computer.

You have intermittent power supply to the fan, you have no power supply to the motherboard, processor fan is not spinning , not is indicator diod on the board, first instance and easiest to check is always power supply.

If power supply is not a reason, check on motherboard high volume capacitors, especially around processor, capacitors should have flat tops, if tops are buckled, that meant capacitor/s is/are gone and motherboard can be used as a decoration, if you do not have special soldering iron to replace surface mount circuitry, do not bother even to think to replace them.

Ok, test the power button pins. First disconnect any power source to the computer. Then, find the power pins on your motherboard (the one that your case's power button connects to. Usually two wires, one red and the other black). Grab a jumper a connect it to those two pins, they usually have the letters "pwr" or "power" printed next to them. Then, once you've done this, with the jumper connected, connect the power cord to your power supply. It should turn on by it self. If it does, then the problem is the power button. If it does not do it, then the problem is the motherboard. Good luck.

When i try to trun on my computer the fan doesnt stop so nothing goes to the screen

Sounds like the power supply or the motherboard. If you have another computer available, you can test the power supply. Just "borrow" the power supply from the other computer. If it still won't come on, then the motherboard might be bad and you'll need replacement.

If you swap the power supply and the motherboard is bad, you will not hurt the working power supply. The motherboard is already dead and won't feed back to the working power supply.

Also, if you have flashed your BIOS recently and it has not completed successfully, you might have a dead motherboard and you will need to replace it. You would know if you flashed or updated your BIOS chip.

Steady Amber Power LED generally indicative of a failed MB. Remove all Memory, Expansion Cards, peripheral items, if still same, replace the motherboard. If you get a Green LED with jusr RAM in system, then an expansion card or peripheral might be the issue. 95% sure it is mothebroard

My gateway 700 xl doesnt boot

Unplug the power from you 700xl and from you monitor. Try removing the cmos battery and reinstalling it. Then, plug everything back in and try restarting. If it continues to give you the yellow light, you may need to replace the CMOS battery, especially if it is more than two years old.

Another thing to consider is if your power supply is underpowered for the number of external devices you have plugged into it (i.e., cd, dvd, external hard drives, printers, pci cards, etc). Gateway installed very low powered power supplies in their 700xl desktop computers. Usually only around 250 watts maximum.

If you are replacing the power supply with another 250 watt maximum power supply, and you have a lot of external devices plugged in, you may need at least a 350 watt power supply....if your CMOS battery is not the problem.
