Hello,

Regarding on your problem, please check if your printer is under warranty. If it is under warranty then i advice that you have to contact your supplier or store where you buy that printer to prevent the warranty to be void if ever you have plan to open it. But if the printer is no longer covered with warranty then you can now follow the steps below:

1. Using star screw kindly locate the screw at the back of the printer, front and bottom of the printer to unlock it using start screw.
2. After you one by one remove the screw attach in the printer, kindly slowly remove the casing of the printer. Note please in removing the casing please remove it slowly.
3. As you open the printer check if the printer board is not damage and also the printer head. Kindly detach the remaining parts of the printer slowly and if you can clean now the printer use linen cloth to remove the stain ink in the printer. Then used also alcohol to remove dry ink stain. After you finished cleaning the printer please return the printer parts to its original position then lock the printer screw to its parts.

Furthermore, you can buy ink absorber in the printer or computer shop located ion your locality. Just ask the sales person in charge to have assistance in buying ink absorber. Also don't forget thet type of printer you have. Note that not all computer shop sells ink absorber you can also find it in the mall or even in the internet. Kindly search it in www.google.com.

Hope this solution enables you to solve your problem. If you need more assistance please reply to this post.

Thank you

This sounds as though the actual print head has failed or is close to failing. You can get new print-heads form you local Canon service centre - they are not exactly cheap - but cheaper than a new printer.

How do you gain access to the "used ink tank" on the Canon i560?

Well Fay after much research, the best answers I've seen actually came from other experts on this website. The link below will take you to another Fixya page with several, very good solutions to the same problem you have. My personal favorite was soaking up waste ink from the pad with kleenex or some other absorbent material as you won't need to take apart your machine. You merely remove the ink cartridges and carriage to gain access to the pad/sponge that Canon calls it's waste tank. I do wish you well and hope you come back to let me know if you were able to fix your machine.

Most likely your black ink cartridge has dried up so you can't use it. Replace it. If that doesn't work reinstall the drivers for the printer.

Printer print nothing or blank

Please these and try to clean the print heads of the cartridges manually:
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Canon i560 printer

It's likely the print head is clogged. You have 2 options:
1) Remove and clean the print head. Open the printer and lift the gray lever and just pull out the print head. There are no tabs to push, it simply slides out. Search the web for cleaning techniques. Looks like people have tried hot water, isopropyl alcohol, and ammonia. I don't know what the best technique is. It's probably a good idea to finish with a distilled water rinse and soak up the excess water with regular towels or paper towels. Remember to clean the ink jet at the bottom of the print head and not the electronic circuitry at the back of the print head.
2) Buy a replacement print head for $50-$65 off the web.
Hope that helps :-)
