Lights work but does not brew coffee or warm the hot plate

Our Mr. Coffee machine has stopped brewing and the hot plate does not warm. The lights indicate that everything is working, but no coffee. Need my coffee !!!

If your coffee maker is under a year old, take it to a authorized service center for free repair or replacement.If its over a year then the complete heating element assembly must be replaced.However, this part is only available to authorized service centers and is not sold to consumers.

This machine depends on heat to move the water to the top. The heating element, or thermal fuse, or burned contacts are the usual suspects. The warmer under the coffee pot is not part of the coffee making process. It is repairable.

Try running a cupfull of vinegar through it followed by a pot of plain water.This will remove any hard water deposits which may be blocking the tubes.

SOURCE: the heater plate on cuisinart cbc-1600 coffee

Called the company and the representative told me that on the CBC 1600 series, it is intentially designed to turn off the hot plate after brewing because the stainless steel carafe will keep the coffee hot. If you are experiencing poor heating, her suggestion was to preheat the pot with really hot water before putting it under the basket. I can't help wondering if they have turned a bug into a feature

I see two problems that you've described.

First, you have a bad empty-reservoir sensor. Mine went out on my first Mr. Coffee within the first month also. The purpose of the sensor is to trigger the beeping to simply let you know when the coffee is done. The coffeemaker would normally work fine otherwise.

Second, you have a bad heating element. This is the core function of your coffeemaker and renders it useless for anything but a nice warming plate.

I recommend replacing the coffeemaker.

In the future, make sure you do not add water to the reservoir unless the coffeemaker has been turned of for at least five minutes. This will help prolong the life of the heating element.

The heating element will naturally degrade over time. But, it can incur sudden damage when the reservoir is refilled with water too soon - while the element is still hot. Because of the simple design, if the coffeemaker is on, then both the warming plate's heating element and the reservoir's heating element are on. So, after a brewing cycle is complete, the reservoir's heating element stays on. Without any in the reservoir to keep it cool, the heating element superheats. So, if water is put in the reservoir while the coffeemaker is on or before the element has adequately cooled, the sudden burst of steam from the water contacting the element can be quite violent.

I have the krups XP160050 coffee maker and espresso machine combination and it has been working fine since we received it about 2 months ago. Today I went to brew a pot of coffee and the light turns green...
Take it back to the shop, that is what guarantees are for.

Coffee pot turns off after brewing
This is the correct operation for this type of coffeemaker. It uses the thermal carafe to keep the coffee warm after brewing, and doesn't use power to operate a warming plate

The light is on to clean it and I do not have an owner's manual. Can you please explain? How do I get the light to stop blinking?
Most coffee makers are cleaned by filling the reservoir with undiluted white vinegar (3 cups). (Do not add coffee.) Remove the water filtration disk if you use it before starting. Then start the brew cycle as if making a cup of coffee (including putting a paper filter or the permanent filter in the filter basket and close the lid). Put a decanter on the warming plate. After brewing, turn off the coffee maker and let stand for 30 minutes. Run another cup of vinegar through the coffee maker. Take the decanter filled with vinegar and discard the liquid (pour down the sink drain). Rinse the decanter. Fill the reservoir with clean water and put in a new paper filter (or clean the permanent filter and put it back). Again do not add coffee. Run a brew cycle to rinse the unit. Discard the water that is in the decanter after the brew cycle. Do a second clean water only brew cycle (with new empty paper filter or permanent filter after cleaning again). However, if you notice an odd taste, repeat the rinse cycle.

You can alternatively use the Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker Cleaner (mix as directed on that package). In either case, this removes mineral deposits (calcium from hard water). For soft water, the cleaning should be done every 80 brew cycles. If you have hard water, do this every 40 cycles.

The manual is available from www.mrcoffee.com/Product.aspx?pid=121 , if I have the correct product version. For some reason this site isn't coming up for me today. Check the manual to find out if there is any specific details for cleaning that aren't shared with other Mr. Coffee products.

Mr. C CG13 coffee maker. Switch is on and green light lit. Hot plate does not get hot and no brewing.
17 bucks. this happens to all these. throw it away and get a new one at walmart for 17 bucks. that's what I did.

Won't brew
I assume your talking about a coffee maker, your most likely going to have to take it apart, there may be a loose connection somewhere inside the coffee maker. You will have to solder or reconnect a wire somewhere, coffee makers arent exactly complicated so you shouldnt have a problem.

Mr. Coffee won't brew all the coffee in the resevior
I would say you need to change the filter on it.

Turn the :Warming Temp." dial to the right, this is the hottest the heating plate will get and should resolve your problem. THedial is locatedjust under the clock.
