If the mechanical eject doesn't work then the drive needs to be replaced because actual mechanical hardware has gone bad. If your software eject is not working but the hardware eject is then you probably have drivers that are confusing the operating system. Goto the Microsoft database and lookup lower filters. Follow the directions. Once this is complete then goto Start, Run and type SFC /scannow. This will reinstal any missing files. Have the original operating system CD handy.
