SOURCE: How do I buy the orig. Boston Acoustics Receptor radio (not HD)?

Our original Recepter (green display) broke down and we couldn't find a new one anywhere. We bought a Recepter HD on e-bay, but this is a completely different product in the same package. Our tradition recepter is one of the best electronic products we've ever had - our new recepter HD is no more than mediocre and a big dissapointment with poor reception (our favorite station - loud and clear on the original model - has now vanished completely into the noise with the HD.

SOURCE: My speaker set up boston acoustics ba7500 will'nt

The Guys at Boston Acoustics helped me get my speakers to work. The Boston BA7500 speakers are coaxial digital speakers so you need a digital output on your sound card. Analog will NOT work. My new HP Pavilion has a Realtek sound card with a digitial RCA plug output. I had to go to Amazon and get a male RCA to 1/8" Stereo Mini Female adapter plug. I just pluged it in and configured my sound card to 16 bit 48 khz output to the RCA output and everything works great. The speakers sound better then ever, great for 10 year old speakers! They sound better then anything I have seen avalable today. The guys at Boston were the only guys that helped with getting this to work! Thanks again to them and Amazon has every type of adapter plug you may need. Good luck.

SOURCE: Unit looses time

I just received a email from BA re this issue. They were amazingly prompt and friendly. Here is what I was advised to do:

"One thing to try is to let the radio recalibrate itself, this is done by leaving the unit completely unpowered and unplugged for 48 hours to let the cap drain and the unit will recalibrate itself"

Boston Acoustics Recepter Radio HD stopped working - no power. The power supply is fine. is there a fuse in the radio?

There should be a fuse in the back but it would only blow if the wiring is funny because the car's fuses are closer to the power supply and should go first, but try anyway

Recepter Radio HD does not work

8-21-2021 FM reception across the band was degrading in sensitivity over time & now barely gets 2 very strong stations . I'm an Electrical Engineer radio designer. I intuited that the tuner's frequency synthesized oscillator could be corrupted / unstable causing a noise that degrades sensitivity. Today I confirmed that the oscillator is indeed unstable from digital noise in the synthesis mechanism. worse at the 88 mhz end than the 108 mhz end. This typical action for a synthesizer. Hope when open it up a simple degraded resisitor or capacitor component in the synthesizer will reveal irtself. Elsewhere someone reported contaminant on the PCB which is also a likely cause of degredation. Perhaps a leaky back-up memory AA battery dripped "acid" on the PCB and just needs to be cleaned ? jerry at jdm labs98498a37-21ab-4fa2-8149-f5469fdaca18.jpgdscf1041-czevabvc1n20cixjnvmmdozv-6-2.jpg

8.22. I measured the the spectrum of the FM tuner's superheterodyne oscillator which should be a single pure frequency . Instead at the 2 ends of the band the spectrum plots show it has multiple frequencies spaced about 40 kiloHertz apart which becomes a 40 kilohertz "noise" interfering with the desired signal . The frequency synthesizer is a Sanyo chip LC72131 and I'm searching for the application schematic diagram of the Recepter ( only owners manual is available) to identify which components may have failed or shifted. Hopefully the chip is ok but need to figure that out too.
