SOURCE: after threading the threads are still 4 staight threads, they are not knitting

is this a knitting machine or a serger?
if it's a serger try checking to see if the needles are in backwards
if they are in correctly then try some new needles

Passap DM 80 knitting machine . The blocking rail on the front will not move. We have oiled it and cleaned it with meths. The machine has been unused for a few years. The back rail works perfectly

Just assuming if it should be moveable, then it is probably still seized. Try some liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube apply a little heat (not hot) from a handheld hairdryer and let it set for a few days. Then retest. Repeat if necessary. Hopefully, that will work.

When I sew knits, the stitching is never tight enough. I have a Singer 7258. It is very loose and looks bad. What settings should i use when sewing knits?

here is a link for a free manual for the machine, it should have the information you need in it,, always use a scrap piece of fabric your sewing to adjust the tension, when adjusting the top thread tension do it one number or letter at a time and then sew on the scrap fabric, until you get the desired stitch you want.

Needle types
There are three main types of needles that are used for the majority of sewing, as well as many specialty needles.
Universal needles have a slightly rounded tip, and this general purpose needle should be used on wovens as well as some sturdy knits.
Jersey needles have a medium ballpoint tip designed especially for knit fabrics because it slips between the knit fibers and does not break or damage them while sewing.
Stretch needles, often confused with Jersey needles, are also a medium ballpoint tip, but these have a special eye and scarf that are designed for extremely stretchy fabrics and elastic. Swimwear is an ideal application for this type of needle.

What is:g/knit_two_tog.htm ???

knitting instruction, knit two together is a way to decrease the number of stitches, you put the needle through two stitches, wrap the wool around to make a stitch and pull the loop through making a new stitch.

Twin needle tension problem

Hi, Tania
Chances are that you're using a universal point twin needle, designed for sewing on woven fabrics. Twin needles also come with a ballpoint which is what you need for knit fabrics
A ballpoint or stretch needle has a rounded tip that will separate the knit fibers as it penetrates the fabric instead of breaking through them. A universal needle may not catch the bobbin thread on both needles when used on knit fabrics; this is necessary for proper stitch formation.

I have an old Singer Memo-Matic 360/260 KNITTING MACHINE. I pulled the machine apart to repair a small dent and put it back together again. The carriage works only in one direction. Can you help me?...

yes a sping must have come off tip it upside down and move the tuck slip etc lever and see that they move, you will see the course that the needles should take, take a close look and see which part of the cams move underneathe try both sides and you will find that one wont match up maybe a pring has popped off or broke good luck. oh also check the side guiders that feed the needles into the carriage, maybe one has been knocked or dented..
