I do not have the cd that came with the camera. It is not at all clear which driver I should download at this link. Can you be more specific? Thanks!

I am still looking for a driver for my sister's IBM VGA camera VP610xv. She lost the cd that came with the camera. Last expert's advice did not help. Feeling like I wasted my $. I need very specific instructions on where to find the driver. Thanks so much for your assistance.

  • iarum Jul 30, 2009

the model # is XVP610xv, the serial number is 610IBO3No14952

I am also going to check the link for a photo of the camera. I am doing this search for my sister and am also encouraging her to use driver detective. Do you think driver detective will work?
Thanks, so far your advice seems much more helpful than the last "expert".

Hi, We tried the driver you suggested and got a video error. A window popped up that requested a registration key after a message that said there was no digital signature or "something"-- can't remember. Is this because it is a third party driver we are trying to use? Skype worked, and we had audio, but only because the microphone was separate from the camera. Still no video. I am think that I might have to buy a new camera. The camera is several years old, if I forgot to tell you that. What do you think? Any other dirivers to try?

HI, have had a good look around and really struggled to find any reference to your serial, its possible that VP610xv might be a part number, or a serial that is just specific to ibm and not widely recognised by anyone else. Are there any other numbers/names on the cam ?
heres a link to some generic IBM webcam drivers, a bit of a long shot but they may solve the problem
http://www.box.net/shared/a4cin5m3a8
remember to unplug your webcam completly from your pc before intalling any drivers.
Install the drivers restart your pc, then plug the webcam in.
Its possible the drivers might not work, and windows (assuming) you are using xp might not recognise the cam.
The only thing that I can think of to identify which cam you have is this
http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=ibm%20webcam&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
The link points to a google image search of ibm webcams, if you can find your cam or a v.similar looking cam we can try and establish which model and style the cam is and it would be much easier to find the approriate drivers, if you find one similar click on it
copy the whole link and paste it on here , then I should be able to find you exactly the right drivers

Hi

You can first try to download the drivers from the Installation CD that came with your WebCam. Also you can download the drivers from this link:

IBM VGA WebCam VP610xv Drivers

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii I need a HP VGA Web cam pg088aa Driver.pls help me

Hi, You have to go to HP official website http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html and enter your model number there or click on "start detection" button and it'll automatically locate your laptop model no. and will provide you all the drivers for your model & you can choose your web cam driver from that list and after that, just download & install them.

Need driver for ibm web cam vp610xv. Lost cd. thanks

Hi,Sorry been away for a while
just wanted to make sure that you guys were using windows XP
and that the driver you downloaded was from this link
http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/ibmv5000w2kxp.exe
Am pretty sure the above is the right driver
A message may have come up about digital driver signing not ot worry about this think, that the drivers were originally written for Win2000 but will work in XP, if the above link didn't work it seems others have encountered the same prob and as a result somone wrote this guide for installing the camera in XP
http://www.camerahacker.com/WebCam/IBM_PC_Camera.shtml
though it looks a tad complicated
noticed you guys were thinking of possibly buying a different webcam, take a look at the
MIcrosoft Webcam LifeCam vx-1000
or the Logitech Quickcam E 3500 on a google search, both easy to install and reasonably priced

CANT INSTALL DRIVER

since you have not given any model no for your ibm web cam, Its very difficult for anyone to tell which drivers to download

visit this link to scan for your web cam drivers:

http://www.softwaredriverdownload.com/ibm_33l4889_pc_camera_windows_2000xp_driver.html

installation:
  • Make sure the IBM PC/Net Camera is unplugged from the computer before installing this software.
  • Click [YES] to continue, the exe will then extract setup files to c:\\setup folder.
  • Go to C:\\setup folder, you will find Setup.exe there, double-click to run it.
