Hi Ron,

I found most of this on another site, and am including it here for your enjoyment. The problems are listed sort of in progression; try step 1 before 2, etc. It sounds like the tech gave you the most common cause and solution, but it sounds like two cycles may be necessary to rule out the detergent solution.....it usually is though. But WAIT! There's MORE!

The motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If “Sud” is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds.

Potential Causes

• If too much detergent was used, run the unit through a Rinse/ Spin cycle then a Normal cycle without adding any detergent. This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked
• Check Wire Harness connections to the Drain Pump, Pressure Switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
• Check / Clean Drain Pump Filter of foreign objects
• Check Drain Pump
• Check the Pressure Switch
• Check CCU

Replace failed component.
I hope you found this to be of help, and at least mildly entertaining!
Best regards, --W/D-- please feel free to rate his solution!

Suds is exactly that you need to use a low sudsing "He" (high efficiency) detergent and not too much of it, use less than the mfg of the detergent suggests and you will be fine

Sometimes coins, nails, pencils, or other hard objects make it into the washer at one time or another. No matter how well pockets are checked, inevitably some of these things end up taking a ride in the washer. lol Sometimes these kind of things or pieces of these kind of things make it to the pump and can damage the blades on the impeller. The way to check is to get a flashlight and look into the suction port of the pump. If any of the impeller blades are broken off or if the impeller is stuck, then you will need a new pump. A condition like this is a common cause of getting the SUD code, so you might want to check it out. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Wrong type of detergent and or too much detergent. Use "HE" detergent and only a small amount in a front loader.

Washer has code nd wont drain and signals long beeps ,replaced pump and have the same problem hoses drained and didnt see any obstructions, old pump looks ok,matt

you probably used too much detergent or the wrong type. These new front loaders take no-suds detergent, a shot glass half full worth. The suds get in the water level tube and the level sensor and everywhere else, and cause mayhem. Run some loads with no detergent at all to try to clean the suds out. If the thing works like it should sometimes, it's a cheap fix. The brain power to find a problem and fix it for good, not so cheap. Water Level Switch 25315479-zejmo41uy3tce5x43qikgza0-5-0.jpg

WHIRLPOOL DUET WASHER MODEL #WFW9600TW01 F-35 & F-28 ERROR

The F35 indicates a water level pressure sensor failure. A loose wire harness connection could be causing this problem if there is no water or suds in the tub. I recommend unplugging the washer and removing the top panel. Screws at the very back of the top panel secure it to the washer frame. Remove the screws and then pull the top panel slightly back and then up and off of the washer. The analog water level pressure sensor is shown in the first image below. The second image shows a clear picture of this component. Check the wire harness connection on this sensor. If you find a loose connection, secure the wire harness properly on the component then reassemble and test the washer. If you continue to get the F35 code, then the pressure switch will need to be replaced. I hope this helps.

HOW TO FIX A F 35 ERROR CODE

The F35 error code indicates an analog pressure sensor error. The analog pressure sensor is the component that detects water level in the washer tub. This error can usually be cleared but it will occur again if the main control board still detects a problem with the signal from the analog pressure sensor. This error code can be caused by a problem with the air pressure tube between the bottom of the washer tub and the analog pressure sensor. If you are able to unplug the washer and check this air pressure tube, you may be able to resolve this problem. The analog pressure sensor can be accessed by pulling off the top panel of your washer. Remove the screws at the very back of the top panel and then pull it back slightly and then up and off of the washer. The analog pressure sensor is Key 38 in the first image below. With the washer unplugged, check the connection of the air pressure tube to this component. Check the entire air tube down to its connection to the bottom of the washer tub. You will likely need to remove the back panel of the washer to check the entire air pressure tube. If you find a kink, tear, hose or loose connection in the air pressure tube, then this is the likely cause of your F35 error code. If the air pressure tube appears to be okay, then you will likely need to replace the analog pressure sensor. If the problem still exists after replacing this component, then the main electronic control board for the washer will need to be replaced. If you are not completely confident in your technical ability to safely access and check these components, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the washer.

IT WILL DRAIN THE WATER BUT WONT SPIN AND CODE SD WILL COME ON

The Sd (5d) error code is displayed on this washer when the machine control board detects a suds-lock condition by analyzing the drag on the washer basket. It will be displayed while the control runs a mini-clean out cycle. If this clean out cycle is unable to remove the excessive suds and correct the condition, then the cycle will end and Sd will flash in the display.
Make sure that you are using HE (High Efficiency) detergent in the appropriate quantity in your washer. If you detect excessive suds in the washer, this likely caused your problem.
Another cause could be a toy or other item under the washer that would cause friction on the drive mechanism. If you do not see excessive suds, check for this type of problem under the washer.

LE Error code

Hello,

SOUNDS LIKE LOCKED ENGINE. SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS CAN CAUSE THIS ERROR CODE TO BE DISPLAYED.

1ST, USING THE WRONG SOAP WILL CAUSE THIS PROBLEM - USE HE SOAP ONLY!!! - IF YOU HAVE BEEN USING THE WRONG SOAP, BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO RUN A FEW SHORT CYCLES WITH HOT WATER ONLY - THIS SHOULD HELP IN REMOVING ANY SOAP RESIDUE FROM THE SOAP SENSOR AND BOOT AREA.

2ND, THE CONTROL BOARD MAY BE DEFECTIVE - YOU NEED TO CHECK VOLTAGE OUTPUTS TO VERIFY.

3RD, BE SURE TO CHECK THE WIRING HARNESS - IT HAS BEEN KNOWN THAT WIRES SOMETIMES BECOME FRAYED AND LOOSE RESISTANCE.

4TH, THE SOAP SUDS SENSOR MAY BE FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

F21 suds comes on eveytime after wash and shuts washer off

"F21" is a Long Drain error code. This indicates that you have an obstruction in the drainage system. More than likely you probably have a clog in the drain pump. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r1484065-f21_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

Included is a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump to clean. You may also have to remove the inlet hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump. Debris can commonly clog in this area as well causing the drain cycle to fail.

If you have any questions about this repair, or need additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If these preliminary measures do not correct your problem, you may have to replace the drain pump. It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced.

NOTE: The "SUDS" error can commonly occur with the F21 error code as this is usually generated when air is sensed in the drainage system.

I'm getting An F2 message on my washer followed by a beep. The washer is not draining correctly.

F2 is a suds problem.

There is an excessive amount of suds in the system and this affects the sensor and causes the drain pump to run and run and run until it shuts off from overheating. This is why we get the F2 and/or suds error code. Once a month, run the machine on the hot water cycle with a cup of bleach. This will clear out any suds build-up. Good luck :)

F2 error code on my Kenmore Elite HE3 washer

Depending on how fritzed your drain pump is this may or may not work. I've been using HE detergent because it is supposed to cause fewer suds. However, apparently is causing more suds than needed. I need to use only a couple tablespoons? If your clothes are not dirty enough for the soap to grab onto then extra suds are the result. The repair guy said we had an excessive amount of suds in the system and this affects the sensor and causes the drain pump to run and run and run until it shuts off from overheating. This is why we get the F2 and/or suds error code. He said once a month run the machine on the hottest water cycle with a cup of bleach (no clothes). This will clear out any suds build-up and is cheaper than Afresh which works, too, (but smells cleaner than bleach). After sitting for a day our pump started working again (yay!) It also stopped making the horrible loud sound. So glad I do not have to replace the pump!! yet...(knock on wood!).

Kenmore HE3 washer makes a dull click noise during spin cycle. I opened the back cover and tried to spin the pulley. As I spun the pulley, I can hear a dull thud noise as I spun. Is there a bearing or...

This is caused by air getting in the pump (from too many suds). So the pump can't pull a good stream of water ( it cavitates like a boat prop). Depending on how fritzed your drain pump is this may or may not work. I've been using HE detergent because it is supposed to cause fewer suds. However, apparently is causing more suds than needed. I have an LE code on washer (LG frontloader), and laundry is wet inside. I tried shutting down and re-starting but keep gettting the code. Is there a solution other than calling repair?

LE codes are extensively covered in past Fix-Ya solutions, but are generally caused by only a handful of things. 1. the " Load Error " can be a very off balanced load. 2. excessive use of soap leads to too much suds, and thus drag on the inner tub. (use 1 tablespoon of HE soap max. per load) or 3. the Hall sensor (part number 6501KW2001A) has failed. The hall sensor is rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty. Take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Snap new sensor on and reassemble. Usually takes under a half hour. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, it might rate a 4. This should be a Fix-Ya for your machine, and at basically no cost!
