Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I took the controller to a friend house and it's works, but it 's not the controller and to my house ,all 4 lights are flashing,no sounds and no picture on the screen.i changed the HDMI cable and still does same thing,no sounds and no picture.my sound is optical .i dont know what to do else.
Excerpt from the PlayStation 3 Manual:
There is no picture on the TV screen.
*Check that the input mode of the TV is appropriate for the connector in use on the system.
*There may be a problem with the AV cable in use. Try using another cable that is compatible with the PS3 system.
*If the video output settings on the system do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system. Then, with only the system and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.
*If the resolution of the video content is not supported by the TV in use, when the video is played the screen may go blank. If this happens, go to the screen for selecting the resolution in the system's video output settings, select "Custom" and then select all the resolutions that are supported by the TV.
The wireless controller does not function.
*When using the wireless controller, you must pair it with the system and assign it a controller number. With the system turned on (power indicator on the system front is lit solid green), connect the system and the controller using the USB cable, and then press the PS button on the controller.
*Reset the wireless controller by pushing the reset button on the controller rear with a sharp-tipped object such as a pen.
Pairing your PlayStation 3 controller with another system will reset its frequency and you will need to pair it with your own again. If I recall, you cannot pair a controller through a USB hub, it must be a direct USB connection to the PlayStation 3.

Hi, we had a similar issue. We have 2 controllers, and all of a sudden we put a movie in and no picture or sound, yet we had sound and picture at the desktop. We initially thought it may be a lazer issues so bought a cleaner, funny thing was the cleaner disk had sound and visual. But I do also vaguely remember one of the controllers wouldn't work during this weird PS3 moment so changed it.
The lazer cleaning didn't work so we did a format, took approx 5hrs, and all movies/ games now play, but one controller will not work. It flashes all 4 lights, then goes off no buttons work, its very annoying, this happens with the USB cable and without. We tried everything except resetting it from the back of the controller (which I am going to try tomoz). We resorted to buying a new one and it paired up straight away so its something with that controller and perhaps our PS3 system.
Good luck, let us know if you find a solution
