There should be a pinhole vent in the cap. Clean this and check/clean/replace the spark plug. If this doesn't get you running well, do the following: Check that you have an adequate fuel supply to the carb body. If 'no', clean your way back to the tank. If "yes", remove the air cleaner (clean it as you go), and spray gumout into the carb. Let it sit a minute, and spray it again, paying particular attention to the orifices. Working the trigger as you spray will give you better access to the interior of the carb. Lubricate the external linkages, and reassemble the air cleaner. This should be everything needed to get you cutting. If all else fails, you can remove and clean the carb, but try with it mounted first. Any adjustment screws that you manipulate should be returned to their initial position so as to not make the issue worse. If I have to move an adjustment screw, I always screw it in until it bottoms (counting the number of turns, and then back it out. I always make a diagram/picture of what I disassemble and put critical info on the drawing (I might have an arrow pointing at a screw with the note 3 and 1/4 turns, etc.). This cuts down on a lot of guessing later, and makes reassembly much easier.
I hope hat this was helpful. Best regards, --W/D-- please feel free to rate this solution! Thanx!

Try running it with a loose fuel cap. If it runs fine the fuel tank vent is plugged. Some mowers have a little hole in the fuel cap that gets plogged up.Use a pin to clean it out.

Husqvarna YTH1842 stops running when hot

Try slackening the fuel filer cap, if the breather is blocked in the cap it will vacume and stop the fuel from flowing, if it runs ok with the cap loose replace the cap.

Chainsaw stops running

When it starts to die slacken off the fuel cap enough to allow air into the tank, if it picks up again it is an issue with the fuel tank breather, if the breather is blocked it will create a vacume in the tank and stop fuel flow to the carb.

Yes this could be the cause of the problem, it sounds like a fueling issue, fuel/air mix. Is fuel getting into the cylinder or can it be seen leaking out between the carb and the cylinder.?

Sounds like your fuel cap may not be venting properly. If no air can get into the fuel tank, then after a short while of running, no fuel will be able to be sucked out, thus starving the engine. You can find replacement fuel caps at

Starts and runs good for 5 maybe 10 min. then it dies and won't start and run right

Remove the fuel cap to see if the saw will run longer--if so, the fuel vent would appear to be plugged. If no help, then check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Hope some of this helps!

We have a Husky 435 (two year warranty) that was new last year. It would start and run fine for several days, then nothing--took to warranty service where they replaced the ignition module the first time. Ran for several more days, then nothing again--this time they replaced the carburetor and it seems to working fine from then on. Suspect that Husqvarna has had problems with our ethanol-blended fuels. If you still have warranty coverage, then take advantage. Hope this helps!

Chainsaw (Husqvarna 345e) will not start due to start attempt without adding oil to fuel.

If this was started without oil in fuel, then the piston is likely scored, and the compression rings stuck in a smeared aluminum mess. You can remove the muffler and probably see the damage to the piston. It can probably be repaired though. Take it to a reputible shop, then read the owners manual and get some help to learn how to safely use and maintain your investment that you have in this saw.
