Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Playstation 3 Flickers when set to 1080P on 32LG70

I also get the flicker problem when I put it in 1080P mode on the PS3 for my 32LG70 TV.

However, depending on the HDMI cable I use, the problem is either severe or minor.

I tried 3 different of the following HDMI cables:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3992&seq=1&format=2

The cable linked above makes the screen and sound flicker to the point where it is unplayable.

The cable linked below works pretty well except there is sort of minor static in on the screen. You can see single pixels that looks like static spread out on the screen. It is hardly noticeable unless the screen is black.

I also tried 2 different of the following HDMI cables:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=204036345

I'm pretty sure it isn't the TV as 1080P works well on other devices.

I'm leaning towards either I need specific HDMI cable or the PS3 just doesn't work well with this TV in 1080P until a firmware update.

This may help... open Display settings, scroll down to the Deep Color option... switch it from automatic to off. So far this is the only solution that I have found

I have had this same problem, bringing my PS3 over to a friend's house it will flicker about every 5 minutes but at my house it is absolutely fine. We have not found a solution. I would suggest making sure all of your inputs are cleaned, I'm sure your cables are clean because they're new. There may be some dust in the PS3's HDMI Port.

If all else fails, use a component cable (red/blue/green/white/yellow). Component cables can play games at 1080p and blu-ray at 1080i.

You should not need a specific HDMI cable. Flickering is typically the result of interference or disconnection.

I connected my playstation 3 to another tv and it

If you attached your PS3 to an HDMI capable TV it asks you if you want to switch to HD Mode.

However, once you attach it back to a regular TV you get no picture.

Follow these steps to resolve:

1. Turn off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can flick the power switch in the back then back on again.

2. With your PS3 connected to the TV and the TV on, press and hold the power button.

3. Hold the power button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release.

4. Wait a few seconds and the PS3 logo should appear.

PS3 Flickers on and off on the screen

Is could be your TV and not the PS3. When the resolution of the screen changes, you TV will flicker to adjust to the new resolution. My TV flickers in a similar way when playing games of lower resolution than my HDTV.

LG 42LC2DB LCD TV Flickers when Ps3 is connected via HDMI port

Make sure you have the PS3 set to the correct frequency for the TV. Many cannot accept 1080p / 24fps etc.

Try different settings.

I hope this helps.

Powers on but nothing happens

It happened to me too. When you plug in your av cables and are ready to play, follow these steps. With your PS3 off (Red light on), Press and hold the power button on your console. (Do not use the controller to turn it on.) Keep holding the button until you hear a second beep. (it takes about 2 to 3 seconds.) You will notice your screen flickers, then your PS3 will show up on the tv. All you did was reset the PS3 display settings. You can always go back to HDMI or AV cables. Have Fun.

PS3 does not work in 1080p

My ps3 didn't like a HDMI connection very much. I tried the Composite input cables and they worked great with no screen flicker.

It sucks to see ALLLLLLL these solutions, when I have the solution. Turn off DEEP COLOR in the video settings. It will immediately stop. If it doesn't, then you don't have the typical snow/flickering problem.
