My FE-230 is only 2 years old and will not turn on/off properly
My FE-230 is only 2 years old and will not turn on and off properly. It now makes an odd noise when either is desired and sometimes it will just power off right after turning it on. Also, once it's powered on, I get a black screen. The only way to get the screen up is to hit the picture button, to see previously saved shots, then press the camera action button. Finally, the screen shows what I'm looking at, but the screen is fuzzy and all photos taken are fuzzy/blurry as well.

Re: My FE-230 is only 2 years old and will not turn...
This sounds remarkedly like a camera that has been dropped. Even by someone else! The odd noise it the can[mera trying to set the lens up and failing. The black screen is because the lens has not travelled the distance etc. multiple problems ! it needs a complete overhaul and may well be cheaper to ditch it and get a new camera

check to see if your image stabilization is on (shaky hand). turn this feature off. also check the properties of your image to see if the iso is set to automatic. high iso, such as 800, will cause this in cameras
It is repairable. First, check to see if it is still under warranty, (I'm pretty sure Olympus's warranty is one year) or if you purchased an additional coverage, even better. If this is the case, call it in. If not, it will not be worth the $ to repair. Unfortunately it cost as much or close to the price of a new camera to repair them and typically is not worth it. If you want to check around though, you can call some camera stores (Wolf Camera is a good choice if you have one locally). Hope this helps!
Hi Gary Is the camera under warranty and registered with Olympus? If not registered, make sure you do that online first. It also extends your warranty to 13 months. If no receipt, It was a gift. You most likely have a bad lens assembly (was it dropped?) or microprocessor. Here's your link... Olympususamerica.com

Someone on here with the same problem mentioned that they shook the camera violently and it fixed the problem of it not focusing. I tried the same thing and actually gave it some light slaps on the tabletop. Well, now it works! I'm somewhat concerned that this fix won't last long.
Like many others' FE-230s, this camera began not focusing shortly after the one year warranty expired. I found my receipt and it turns out that I purchased the 2 year service plan at Best Buy and could get the camera replaced. But, now it works. Will it fail again after the 2 year plan expires? Jeez....
