Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range
12 years old. Must need to replace a part. What is it, and can I install it myself?
If this is a GAS range, the majority of the cases this problem is attributed to a bad igniter on the bake manifold. Each oven manifold (one for bake, one for broil) has its own igniter. They are both fed from the same gas source, though. So, if the broiler works, more than likely you simply need to replace the bake igniter. The following link explains:
The bake igniter tends to wear out faster, due to the frequency of use.
You can purchase replacements on line at searspartsdirect.com, appliancepartspros.com, pcappliancerepair.com, or repairclinic.com. Just use you model number as your search criteria.
This is a simple repair that anyone can do on their without the need of a service call. Just follow the steps provided. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
