Bought a seagate backup plus hard drive to backup files, installed on computer but cannot backup files, problem says could not be performed because of anI/O device error.

Connect the external drive to a different computer, and try to copy a few files to it. If you still get "I/O Error", then the unit has malfunctioned.

Yellow light blinking only

I suggest you contact Seagate support via www.seagate.com. It may take a few days for them to respond. If they haven't answered after say 3 days, repeat the request. Please have the model number and serial number of your disk to hand. You need to more specific about the description and name of your product than you have been here - I believe from my readings that Seagate's GoFlex range is huge. Also your computer's operating system and possibly the manufacturer and model of your computer. How are you connecting the drive to your computer (ie which interface are you using) ? On the form describe the issue in as detail as possible. (copy and paste what you have written here). You could also try browsing the Seagate website for ages or joining the Seagate community, and searching that, or posting your problem there.
If you have a GoFlex net, this might be informative:

If relevant see section 7 of this

ALWAYS keep BACKUPs of data that you cannot afford to lose, in case of events like this.

Boot failure- system halted was my problem , kindly help me boot failure- system halted

Yours is purely an operating system and /or hard disk problem ok. If you have the Recovery cd, try running it if not you will have to reformat your hard disk and re-install the operting system. It's a painful thing to lose some very important files. I suppose too that you must have a backup of your vital files. So go on with the reformation and your will come back alive ok. Good luck

Hard drive with loose usb connection

Hi there. This would be an actctual manufacturing fault. I would strongly suggest that you copy/backup all the files you want to keep, from that hard drive, to another one. Then, if it's still under Warranty from either the shop where you bought it, or still under warranty from Seagate themselves, you can send it back to be fixed, or get a replacement. If it's not under warranty, then you could always take the external case off the hard drive and see if it's something you could repair yourself. Either way, as I said, I would still strongly suggest you copy/backup any files that you want to keep.

Hello looking for some advice on a st3160022ace on a a7n8x-vm

Hi omega_1_80, two things come to mind. I gather you used the data cable from the MSI system when you switched to it. Try connecting a new data cable (80-pin) in your system. Set the bios to Auto for the PATA 160 drive. If the drive still seems funny turn off S.M.A.R.T. See if these suggestions help.

Good luck omega_1_80!
