Not quite sure if the partion is the primary or secondary. If it is secondary and you are running Vista, go into the Admin Tool in the Control Panel, select Computer Management, select Disk Management under the Storage tab. Select the partion you want to erase from the bottem partion of the screen, right click on the partion, and choose Delete Volume.

If you are deleting the primary, you will need to use the upgrade function to get a clean deletion of the old info.

Good Luck

External HD is not detected by laptop Windows XP

A common issue...I'm sure your hard drive is working fine, Windows is just not giving it an unused drive letter.

1. Insert the device (camera or usb drive)
2. Right-click "My Computer" and select "Manage".
3. Click on "Disk Management"
4. Right-click the item in the list that looks like your camera or usb drive, and then click "Change Drive Letter and Paths."
5. Click "Change".
6. Give it a drive letter that is not being used.
7. Click OK.

The device should work instantly after that.

ACER ASPIRE IE 3520P is bought recently. Initially HD was partioned into two, one for windows XP and another for SLC.Now both systems are not working and during the reinstallation process HD is not...

Check the BIOS configuration to see if the hard disk is detected.
If it is not detected then most likely it is faulty. If you can boot up with a DOS disk and run FDISK and if FDISK cannot see the hard drive then it is faulty. Then you need to replace the hard disk.

Acer boots from xp

take it back to store. basically a hidden, but unremovable partition is causing the xp bootup. It happened to me aswell. They will probably give you a replacement as it is an unfixable problem. Even with new hard drive didnt fix it. Sorry about that.

EISA configuration

I believe that he EISA configured partition is where your computer manufacturers 'Restore System' data is kept so that you can't normally access it and mess it up. You seem to have gone to a lot of trouble to do work around that.
I would be interested to know if you can still restore your system now using the data that you transferred to a different partition?

Hard drive partion

You will need to use a programme similair to partition magic or norton. other than that a full format of the harddrive will be required and set it at the full unpartitioned size.
