Question about Asko 24 in. D3112 Free-Standing Dishwasher

Dishwasher won't power off

It keeps running like its washing the dishes but no water is coming out. Its as if the motor is stuck. Even when the door is open, it keeps sounding like its running a cycle. I tried the pressing and holding down the power button. None of the buttons are responding. The only way to shut it off is to unplug it.

Howdy. Flashing light on the switch, shows a glass? At any rate your overflow protection switch is activated. Probable cause; plugged or defective exhaust hose that does not allow pumping to go faster than water coming in, too high a water level. Clean the entire system first!
Is your exhaust hose going up to about threequarters as high as the machine? You must have this uphill twist and turn in the drain system.
A little water remains in the sensor and it thinks you are flooded. Force air through the pump in the floor until all is clear, a clean plumber's helper is ideal. Keep doing this until you get the last bit of water out of the sensor. When you get it running watch the machine (First time) carefully. You do not want a flood, that's why Asko put this safety device in place.

Dishes not cleaning after full cycle running

Your screens are plugged with food residue in the bottom of the unit. clean it out. You can use 1 gallon of white vinegar for your wash after you clean the screens. Start your washer to fill with water but after the water starts, open your door and pore all of the gallon in the unit. Let it now run for 4 minutes and stop it by opening the door. Leave the door slightly open for 1 hour. close the door and let the cycle continue for 4 more minutes. open the door and repeat it a couple of more times. Let it sit all night with the vinegar in it and in the morning - close the door and let the cycle continue to the end. This should help soften and clean out the food particles in the unit. You can repeat the process and get a better cleaning then too. All the scale should be off your dishes now.

Its possible that if you live in a hard water area that limescale buildup is causing this problem if salt levels got low. The first thing that can be done is to run it with 2 or 3 cups of vinegar added & see if it cures it. If it won't accept opening the door to add this after wash has started then add it in a wide dish to catch water & wash it out during cycle. Adding a dose (half cup) of bicarbonate of soda alongside should work even better. This has worked really well for washing machine about to give up on & do regularly to prevent problem. Hope this helps.

Either:

  1. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller. Disassemble and clean pump if necessary.
  2. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,

make sure you water is hot enough, manufactures reccommened 120 degrees to the dishwasher, i advise all customers to run hot water at sink til you get hot water then turn dishwasher on, also fill both compartments of sopa, also use rinse aid or jet dry, do not use gel packets. use cascade powder or liquid only.also run the unit through a clean cycle this should be done once or twice a year. letdishwasher fill with hot water. when starts to wash, open door and add 2 cups of white distiilled vinegar and close door and let it go throughas cycle. no dishes. also i reccommened dish majic cleaner sold at walmart or grocery stores. if this dont help then youw wash syatem could be bad or going bad.hope this helps you. try all these things first befor you re[lace uniy or pay to have it looked at.

ASKO MODEL 1996 WILL NOT WASH DISHES

Don't know if this will help, but my dishwasher has a "propeller" device above the top and bottom racks that spins while dispensing the water. If the dishes on either rack are stacked too high (i.e. if even one plate comes in contact with that propeller, keeping it from spinning properly) the dishwasher will go through its full cycle but will not use the soap (soap door will still be closed and soap packet still intact) and will not get the dishes clean.

Doesnt dry dishes, top rack not clean, has been serviced 3 times

If you have checked everything that was mentioned (and none of them are the issue) then either the heater inside the unit is not coming on during the wash and rinse cycles and/or the fan motor inside the door is not coming on during the dry cycle. A technician can easily check this out with the correct tools and by putting the unit into test mode.

As for the top rack dishes being dirty and there being soap left in the dispenser, this sounds like wash motor is either weak or the vario motor is not switching between the upper and lower spray nozzles. The sump assembly should be replaced for this issue.

Dish washer door leaks

This sounds like a case of the water rising too high in the machine. If your unit has a float to control the water level (located in the wash area), it is likely stuck. Free it by letting water into the machine and then exercising it to get the 'goo' out. If it has a pressure switch located in the motor area, clean out the line.
