Compaq Presario F756NR - I go to turn on the laptop, it blinks a couple of times like it is booting up and then turns back off. Could this be the mother board?

With an extensive use of the notebook,
some times notebook would store some static charges which
indeed will stop the notebook from powering up or charging
the battery. The procedure to remove this static charges from
the notebook is known as power drain. Performing a power
drain procedure will not effect any personal data or delete
any pictures from the hard drive on your notebook.
I recommend you use Power Drain procedure by following these
steps:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

The battery is not charging

Hi

Turn the Acer notebook off by pressing the "Power" button. Remove any power sources connected to the notebook. If the notebook is open, close it.

Flip the Acer upside down and place it flat in front of you. Slide the battery locking mechanism to the right. The locking mechanism is diagonal to the lower left corner of the battery. While sliding the mechanism, slide the slimline battery out of the battery bay.

Insert the AC power adapter. The AC power adapter outlet is located toward the middle of the right side of the notebook. Attach the other end of the power adapter to a functioning electrical outlet. Open the laptop. Turn the power on. If the Acer notebook powers on, the AC power adapter is properly working. Replace the AC power adapter if the laptop does not turn on. Remove the AC power adapter and turn the notebook off.

Inspect the slimline battery. Look for signs of damage such as dents and corrosion. If the battery contacts appear to be dusty or have residue, gently clean them with an alcohol wipe or cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.

Re-install the battery by sliding it back into the battery bay. You may hear a click or snap when the locking mechanism locks the battery firmly into place.

Plug the AC power adapter into the laptop. Leave the power adapter in the notebook for eight hours so the battery charges.

Remove the AC power adapter. Power on the Acer notebook. If the notebook does not power on, the slimline battery must be replaced. If it does turn on, the battery did charge.

Powering on the laptop

Remove the Battery from the Notebook and disconnect the AC Adaptor. Press and hold the Power button on the Notebook for 30 seconds.
Connect the AC Adaptor to the Noteobook and to a different wall outlet then press the power button to turn ON the Notebook. If not then insert the Battery pack in the Battery compartment of the computer then press the power button to turn it ON. Make sure that the Battery is fully or optimally charged.
If performing the above mentioned steps didn't power up the notebook nor the power indicator glows on the notebook then the issue is with the power circuit and service will be required.
In this case, contact any service technician to get the Notebook repaired and running.

I have a compaq presario 700 laptop that is no longer charging.

The notebook battery may have a defect if it will not power on the notebook and if it will not hold a charge. The battery indicator light on the notebook either does not light or always blinks orange. The notebook operates correctly when connected to the AC adapter.
A battery that will not charge may be the result of an AC adapter failure, a system board failure, or a battery failure. Perform the steps below to diagnose the failure.
Troubleshoot the power supply
To verify that the AC power supply is functioning properly, follow the steps below.

1.
Plug the AC adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet, and plug connector into the computer. Do not plug into a power strip, surge protector or secondary power source.
2.
Verify the following operation and take the appropriate action:
*
That all power cord connections are secure.
If the AC adapter connection to the notebook is loose, the connector may be damaged and require repair. Contact HP service and support for further assistance.
*
That the power button or power LED is lit when the computer is on.
*
That an LED on the AC power supply adapter is lit when plugged into an AC wall outlet (not available on all AC power supply adapters).
*
That the AC power supply adapter is the correct type.
Different notebook models require different AC power supply adapters. You will need to know the Product Number of your notebook to determine the Part Number of the replacement part. Click Start > HP Help & Support to view the product name, product number, and serial number that you'll need to have to speak with HP Customer Service.
View the See Also section for information about locating HP Help & Support in your operating system.

Troubleshoot the System Board
If you've verified that the AC power functions properly, troubleshoot the PC's system board by following the steps below.

1.
Remove the battery, and keep the notebook connected to AC power.
2.
Press and release the Power button to start the computer.
*
If the notebook PC powers on , then the AC adapter and system board are functioning properly. Go to Troubleshoot the battery .
*
If the Power LED is off , then the AC power adapter needs to be replaced. Contact HP Service and Support for further assistance.
*
If the power LED is on , but the notebook PC does not power on, then the notebook PC needs to be repaired. Contact HP Service and Support for further assistance.
3.
Shut down Windows by selecting Shut Down from the Start Menu.

Troubleshoot the battery
If you have verified the AC power supply and system board are functioning correctly, troubleshoot the battery by following the steps below.

1.
Insert the battery into the battery compartment on the bottom of the notebook PC.
2.
Connect the AC power supply and allow the battery to charge for 15 to 30 minutes.
NOTE: The Battery Charging light should be on while the battery is charging. If it is not on, check the AC power adapter connection to the notebook PC.
3.
Unplug the AC power adapter cord from the notebook PC.
4.
Press and release the Power button to start the computer using only the battery as the power source.
*
If the PC does not power on, then the battery needs to be replaced. Contact HP service and support for further assistance.
*
If the notebook PC does power on, the battery is functioning properly.
NOTE: If you have purchased a second battery for your notebook PC or you have access to an identical battery, you can also check the battery by inserting the second battery into the PC and performing the Troubleshoot the battery steps again.

HP DV2036ea i have a blank screen on the computer

Hello there

Description.

When pressing the notebook power button nothing is displayed on the screen or display. The cause of this problem may be a failed AC adapter, the memory modules (RAM) need to be reseated or a failed notebook system board component which will require an HP certified repair.

Below steps will assist in identifying the cause of the problem and suggest the best solution. Test the AC adapter Follow the steps below to determine whether the problem is related to the AC adapter or your notebook system board.
  1. Remove the battery and disconnect all external devices from the computer.
  2. Hold the Power button for several seconds, with all power sources removed. This drains residual power from the system, and may correct many problems.
  3. Connect the AC adapter to a wall outlet and plug the other end into the computer.
  4. Press the Power button to start the notebook PC.
If the notebook does not start or the display is blank then check the power indicator light or power socket LED. Check the power indicator light or power socket LED On newer models of notebook PCs, there is an LED or indicator light around the power socket on the notebook. Check to see if this light is on or off, when the notebook is plugged into AC power. The power indicator light or power socket light should turn on when the AC adapter is connected.

  • If the light does not turn on then the problem is most likely related to the AC adapter or the electrical source in your home or office. Go to the Light does not turn on section on this page.
  • If the light does turn on but the notebook does not start or the there is a blank screen then continue to the Light does turn on but the notebook does not start section on this page

The light does not turn on when the AC adapter is connected If the power indicator LED is off, the AC power adapter may need to be replaced. To determine if the AC power adapter needs to be replaced follow the steps below:
  1. Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged directly into a known working wall outlet.
NOTE: To check the wall outlet, plug in a different known working device like a light, radio etc.
  2. Check all of the following connections:
    • The connection from the power cord to the wall outlet.
    • The connection into the power adapter from the power cord.
    • The connection from the AC adapter to the notebook power socket.
  3. Press the power button again to test the notebook PC.
If the power indicator light still does not turn on, then the AC Adapter needs to be replaced. Contact HP Service and Support for further assistance. Power socket LED or power indicator light is on but the notebook does not start If notebook power indicator light (LED) is on, the AC adapter is working correctly. The problem is a result of a hardware failure in the notebook itself. In some cases, reseating the memory module (RAM) may solve the problem.
