Ac is on but its not pumping out any cold air

Compressor is probably not running.
The Main reasons that this will happen
1 - A bad run capacitor (silver or metal capacitor)
It’s either shorted, grounded or open.
If it’s shorted a lot of times it will bulge out, (sometimes slightly)
2 - A bad start kit ( plastic capacitor and Relay connected to it )
The capacitor is either shorted or open
The relay either has an open coil between terminals #1 and #5
Or the relay is stuck.
Any time you change the capacitor or relay you should change
the other, especially if they are over a year old.
3 - A loose, burnt or disconnected wire
4 - Wired wrong
5 Compressor is open (windings burnt open)
6 Low on charge not getting enough cooling back to compressor, (Feel top of compressor to see if it’s hot it shouldn‘t be)
7 Some compressors have a black plastic overload under the compressor cap which could be bad.

My ac not blowing cold air


Not blowing cold air would be either the belt could be slipping,or broken .Most likely the pump clutch has failed.also check the aircon relay depending on what car this is the relay would be in the fuse section under bonnet/hood

Our AC keeps cutting out. It runs for a few minutes then stops. have to switch off and restart. Any idea why? Have emptied water and cleaned filter recently


Look for:
  1. the ac needs air flow thru the indoor and outdoor radiators
  2. the outdoor radiator coil should get warm/hot and produce warm air.
  3. indoor radiator coil needs should get cold and produce cold air.
The ac needs the fan motor(s) working and compressor running and pumping. Compressor skinny copper line hot and thick line cold.

Replaced AC with converter kit and ac still does not blow cold air.


could be fuse or relay causing pump not to kick on...also could be clutch on pump has failed...somethings you might check...

Sounds like compressor not running. may be a bad capacitor, could also be low on freon.

1998 gmc sonoma air conditioner - not cold


Check the magnetic clutch is engaged on front of a/c pump, have the motor running, a/c on and fan on high, if the centre hub is static the pump in not switched on, this can happen when the gas pressure gets low.

When on AC the air blows hot, when on heat the air blows room temprature


This is a wiring issue or you have a heat pump and the reversing valve is stuck.

1985 toyota Camery in hot weather the car AC quits and will not engage the pump. After it cools the pump will come on again. When this happens the AC button in the car blinks. i know this is a vacuum and/or temperature sensor but i don't know which one it is. The manual I have does not say anything about it. It is a sensor somewhere telling the pump to turn off. The compressor keeps cutting out when the temperature starts to climb. I believe the system has a motor vacuum load/temp. sensor that cuts the AC out when the motor temp. rises from extra load. IE: like going up a long hill. I just don';t know where the sensor is located and the clutch wiring from the compressor is impossible to follow, as it is buried in a wire harrness. There is a sensor switch on the dryer. when the pump is acting up if i disconnect the sensor wiring the fans start running on high. HI, giving the compressor 12v directly is not the way to go as you are bypassing the entire fail safe cercuit. it seem to me that your ac gas is low(can be checked via ac pressure gauges) wich means you have a system leak sumwhere. as soon as your hi/low pressure switch(depending on system) detect inferior pressure to the spesified pressure ,the ac compressor voltage is cut in order to protect the pump from seizure.

Or perhaps your evaporator(small radiator like unit behind dash) can get freezed up caused by either too mutch system gas(check pressure) or poor opperation of the expantion valve. the evaporator then has a sensor(themometer) wich measures evap. temp and if the value drops below spec (usially round about7degrees) the ac compressor will be cut once again(fail safe)

Maybe your ac compressor overheats due to inferior system oil/oil capasity, also note that only some systems incorperate the function of measuring ac pump temp. then again temp to high= fail safe=no12v to ac pump.
