I have a piece of meade carp that I have been trying to get a fix for many years. The scope currently performs a very useful service here, it keeps a door open. The problem is that the prism does not...

The Meade 8" SCT LX90 is a very good all round unit. Although angry, you will find it is well worthwhile persevering.
The back plate, called the optical back, takes an eyepiece holder into which you can also fit your diagonal prism for comfortable viewing. It is part 3 in the diagram here, Fig 1
http://www.meade.com/manuals/TelescopeManuals/LXseries/LX90-LNT.pdf

All you need is the right size holder for this scope, such as
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/202598-REG/Meade_07182_Eyepiece_Holder_aka_Visual.html

Any telescope shop can sell you one, but take care to get one that also fits the barrel of your prism, which will be either 1.25" or 2"

Hello I need to know if my AR-6 refractor for my LXD55 mount is a direct replacement for mounting on an LDX75 mount and tripod? Also would a CG-5 GEM hold an AR-6?

No-- you need a CG6 to accurately hold that 6 inch refractor.

Recommend that you look at the Celestron 6 inch SCT-- or the Astro-Tech RC6, which can be mounted on that CG5.

I lent my Celestron 9.25 SCT to a friend and he said he had collimation issues. He said he couldn't find the collimation screws on the secondary so he unseated the retainer ring and pulled the secondary...

Yes because the corrector plate must be replaced in the exact position it was removed. There were probably also small paper or cork "shims" around the glass plate that must also be replaced exactly. Your friend messed up your scope most likely.

YOU DO NOT need to remove the corrector plate to collimate an SCT. The collimation screws are on the center of the plate and accessible from in front of the scope.

Hi just purchased a used Sciencetech 262... Can anyone help me figure out how to put it together and use thank you

Sorry that is an off brand imported telescope. Never heard of that brand.

However, there are basically 3 styles of telescopes, a REFRACTOR, a REFLECTOR(that has mirrors), and an SCT with both a front corrector plate and a mirror.

You probably have either a refractor or a reflector. Meade maintains a web site with all of their manuals- lokk under the 4.5 inch Reflector heading, or the Refractor heading for one that is similar to your scope. They all assemble and are used in the same way.

Mead lx6 model 2120. DRS will not get past the error message and when it does, the DEC and RA do not change when the tupe is moved in RA or DEC. Where can I get repairs done or mabe a schmatic for the...

This is a very old Meade SCT telescope. You can try contacting Meade customer service but I would doubt that they still have parts??

http://www.meade.com/support/index.html

So, go to the Yahoo Groups LX200 forum and join and ask questions. Someone may have that model Meade SCT. Also there are people on the forum that can repair the circuits in the hand controller if something is blown.

Good luck.

Estimated support Meade: my problem is that I

Meade will not sell you a corrector plate. The scope must be returned to Meade. Call their customer service line here-
http://www.meade.com/support/index.html

The shipping will be very expensive along with the repair. Possibly taking it to a local Meade dealer may be more economical??

LX200 EMC MEADE 8 INCH

By doing this trick--

Do a FAKE alignment-- (I assume that the scope is trained and has the proper date, time, and site)-- just push the buttons for the alignment stars that you cannot see. Then do a GOTO to a star that is in your field of view--- center the star and SYNC. Your gotos will now be OK in your limited field of view.
