Hi - I was researching this for you online and found in the device's owner's manual that the "SPAN" settings can cause the device to cycle unusually. Since you've changed batteries, you may need to check these settings. Sadly, it also says that if the unit goes on when in the off position, the device may need replaced. See if the owners manual's SPAN settings and "Troubleshooting" section of the free manual available at the link below is of any help. Best of luck... I dnt know the name of the sensor, probably its name is ignitiator, or the one directly attached to the spark plug ..............it may cost some 5000 to replace one!!

Couple of things to check, first this may be nothing more than a belt that has loosened or stretched after the install.There should only be about a quarter of an inch stretch in the belt between pulleys. Caution - only check with engine stopped!!! The alternator causes a strong resistance when it is producing electric power, so slippage is to be checked first. Second, if the battery light comes on and off; it maybe acting in error. Get a multi-meter and check the battery voltage with car and ignition shut off. With the meter set on 12volt bat, place the black probe on the negative side of battery or ground and the red probe on the positive side of battery. If you get a reading of 12.66 v the battery is being charged and is full. If you get 12.45 you have a 50% charged battery. If less the alternator wiring needs further checking into as there maybe issues with wiring or the alternator itself. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: A/C not working properly
There is what is called a low pressure switch in the system that will not allow the system to run unless there is a complete charge in the system, what is happening is that the system is "Short cycling" due to low pressure, you can purchase a re charge kit at the local Autozone or Pepboys and that will fix the problem.

Several possibilities: 1) PCM or idm relays cutting out when hot, but said it's good, but double check anyway. 2) Possible IPR regulator o-ring, losing it's seal after oil gets thin, and or connector loose or bad from vibrations. 3) Possible cam sensor intermittent failure 4) Best to hook up a scanner and observe engine data to eliminate costly guesses. 5) High mileage vehicles, check ignition switch. 97 F-350 565 EFI Big Block
