Tell me what the Model Number of HP laptop this is, then let me see if I can find the Maintenance and Service Guide. (Don't let the name -> Guide fool you. It's really a detailed Service Manual!) (It's on the bottom of the laptop in the white Service Tag. The motherboard model number does me no good) If I find the Maintenance and Service Manual to it, I will give you the link, so you can download it. These manuals tell you, and show you, how to disassemble step by step, all the way down to just the motherboard in your hand. They are free.

First of all take care of screws they are hidden under the keyboard, keyboard has little "knobs like" locks at top sides and if you find it you will take it easily. If its first time you disassamble it better find someone experienced.

How to take apart an acernote 760ic?

The current CMOS battery is soldered onto the motherboard under the keyboard - you need to have soldering skills to remove and replace the battery or take the computer to someone who can do it for you. Be careful who you ask - that is a collector's item!

Laptop won't power up

Smell the ac power brick. If it smells burnt replace it. If it has a light indicator that doesn't light when plugged in, replace it. If neither remove the battery from the laptop and plug just the ac power brick in. See if the laptop powers on, if yes replace the battery. If no or if it only came on briefly at the same time gently wiggle the power connector at the point it plugs into the laptop and tap the power button in 1 second intervals. If the laptop power on and off then the d/c jack on the motherboard has a bad solder joint and the computer will need to be taken apart completely to either A) try and resolder the joints, B) replace the d/c jack or C) (easiest) replace the motherboard.

If you get nothing at all you will need to replace the motherboard.

Replace motherboard fujitsu e8020

You take the laptop apart. Completely apart. I mean every piece of it. And you better make sure you replace it with the exact board or you'll be sorry. You might as well get some cups and label them for all the screws you pull out so you'll know where they came from. You might want to have a digital camera handy to take pictures before you pull something out. And once you've got the motherboard taken you, you'll need to get the CPU out of the old motherboard and put it into the new one. You'll have to do the same with the HeatSink if the new motherboard does not come with one. And you will need to buy some Thermal Paste to put on the CPU and Heat Sink to make sure they don't overheat. After you've got it all done you'll have to put everything back. Now would be a good time to pray to Allah, Budah, God, Jehovah, Jesus or whoever it is you serve. Because You're gonna need it to hope it works :)

Gateway Laptop MC8741 will not turn on. Replaced battery....replaced power cord. Noticed that fan was not working a day prior.

Start taking your laptop apart piece by piece and test it after each removed component:
1. Remove the hard drive and test the laptop.
2. Remove the DVD drive and test the laptop.
3. Remove the wireless card and test the laptop.
4. Unplug the display panel from the motherboard/video card and test the laptop.
Continue taking it apart until you have only three major components connected: motherboard (with video card), processor, and memory. If you still experience the same problem, most likely it's bad motherboard.
By the way, before you start, try reconnecting the memory module. If you have two modules installed, try removing them one by one and test the laptop with each one separately

Hi guys i broke the left button on my hp pavilion dv6 1210sa note book and can not find replacement part i dont want to use a exturnal mouse either thanks

Well first you'll need to know how to take your laptop apart so I did find a website that can help you with that:

The only problem is that you would need to replace the whole motherboard to actually get a "working" mouse. Sorry, I feel your pain.

How do I replace the CMOS battery for Toshiba Satellite A10-S169. Thank you

The cmos battery in laptops is not easily replaced. The whole laptop must be taken apart to get at the cmos battery which is soldered to the motherboard. You should be able to find a new battery on ebay but then will require someone to take it all apart and resolder the new battery onto the motherboard
