I don't have enough information to be sure, but it sounds like possibly one or two different problems. First, your sd card could be missing or corrupted. Second, (less likely) you could have been hacked (I was) and the person transferred my account to their phone, thus rendering my phone inoperable. This was done through my carrier's website!
You have to activate your new phone before you can use it. That is when the carrier will put the phone's ESN into their network computer.
Is the phone locked to a specific carrier?
If your phone is unlocked, sometimes a firmware upgrade or restart prompts you to renter your unlock code.
Can you borrow a SIM card from a friend and test your phone, maybe your SIM card is faulty.
Check in your phone settings and make sure that the phone carrier is set to ‘auto’ and not set to a specific carrier, Bell, Rogers, AT&T etc.
