Well you must try to delete upper filter and lower filter from the registry and path to upper filter and lower filters are

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Sounds like the drive is not being recognized by windows. Open My Computer or Computer and see if the drive shows up in the window. Then get into the device manager and see if it is there with no x's or circles around it. If it is not in device manager then try searching for new hardware and see if it finds it. If it is there then remove the drivers and reinstall them.
If it is not there then shutdown and reboot and get into the bios screen and see if the bios recognizes the drive. If it doesn't then the drive is bad or needs to be reseated. If you need more help then give the model number so I can find the user manual from the Acer web site

Are you able to see your drive from My computer area? If so, you may need to update the drivers for your particular brand pc/DVD-ROM. If you need to open the drive to get media out of it, you can use a paper clip, stick it into the small opening on the front of the DVD-ROM and gently puch. The drive should open.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: DVD drive won't read original

Hi,
First are you CERTAIN the computer you are using the dvd in is capeable of reading dvd discs? If so I'd recomend purchasing a cd/dvd cleaner (available online and in most audio shops) and a CD Lense cleaner.
This should cure your problrm, unless it's one of the first signs of the laser wearing out, in which case a replacement drive is required

Dvd reading error

Try using a known-good (for instance, a movie you just watched on your TV). If it doesn't read that disc, make certain you have seated the disk in the drive properly (Laptop drives have a *CLICK!* when you have seated the disc properly). If that doesn't work- if the laptop is in warranty, get it fixed. If not, use an external drive to fulfill your media needs

My dvd drive doesn't work

If it happens for only one particular disk:
Bring that disk to a game store like Gamestop or Rock30 Games and have them professionally clean the disk for a couple bucks.

If it happens for all disks:
Clean the cd/dvd with a laser lens cleaning kit. If that doesn't fix it then the cd/dvd drive will need to be replaced.

My Dell optiplex 740 DVD/CD Rom drive does not read any disks.

You likely have a dirty or malfunctioning laser in your DVD drive. You can try cleaning the laser with a cleaning kit or open up the DVD drive and clean it manually with Isopropyl Alcohol. There is also a chance that drive motor is failing or the drive belt is stretched (Drive will likely make noise if this is the case). Parts can be sourced on eBay if necessary.

In my opinion. Just ditch the drive and buy a new one. It will cost $20-$30 and take 15-20 minutes to install. You could spend hours attempting to repair it and there is no guarantee you will be successful. These things are basically disposable now. If you want to open it up first then by all means give it a shot. You have nothing to lose because it already doesn't work and you'll at least learn something new.

Try cleaning the lens with a kit or alcohol and a cotton swab first. If that doesn't work, just buy a new one. It's much easier and possibly cheaper too.

Computer is not reading the installation disk

By installation Disk do you mean the CD/DVD-ROM? If yes

Check to see if the drive's LED flashes when the system is trying to boot. If it doesn't, open the system and make sure all the cables to the CD/DVD- ROM is properly connected and to the right slots. If the cables are properly connect and the CD/DVD- ROM is still not working replace the CD/DVD-ROM.

However, if its that the system could not install a particular program, make sure the installation files are complete and try again. If its a downloaded program, verify the completeness of the file downloaded and try reinstalling the program.

Have panasonic dmr-ez485v error message -NO READ- changed disks used prerecorded movie same as my recorded disks, hit reset - still no change

I just saw the date on this message and realize that it was awhile ago. I assume that you have dealt with it by now... So for others who are trying to fix their DVD player:

I have a DMR-EZ485V DVD player and just started getting the error message "No Read." I couldn't find an answer on the internet and finally called Panasonic's customer service, (there is no charge 1.800.211.7262). Since it says "No Read" to everything--store-bought DVDs, burned DVDs, CDs; AND when there is nothing in there (it acts like it is trying to read when the tray is empty), the customer service rep thinks that I am having a lens issue. It either needs to be cleaned (can pick-up a product at Best Buy or Radio Shack) or, if that doesn't work, the lens needs to be replaced.

My dvd drive on my laptop will not read all disks

check your drive spesc - it can't not compatible with some disks, there are many formats: DVD-R, DRD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW.
some disk recoder applications can leave open sessions and it makes disk readable only on the same drive where it was burnt

Reads all but DVD-Help PLEASE

When you say it won?t read are you trying to play commercial DVD movies or read DVD data disks? If you're trying to play movies then you need a couple of things the first being some type of player program. Real player works as does Windows media player but usually DVD drives come with a striped down version of PowerDVD or WinDVD. If you in fact have a player installed and when a DVD is inserted in your drive it doesn't play it may not be configured to automatically play DVDs. Try opening your player program and trying to manually play your DVD. Let us know if you have any success or if you need more assisted. If you do let us know what player program and operating system you have and any error messages that may appear.
