Problem with Apple iPhone Smartphone

my iphone screen got zoom in and i can't fix it!

It just happened all by itself. My phone was never dropped or anything like that..I received a call this afternoon, and as I got my phone to answer the call, notice the screen was zoom in..and i had a hard time scrolling down to answer the call.. It's so frustrating! I tried the phone reset, by pressing the power button and the menu button at the same time but it didnt do anything. My husband tried the restore button on itunes, it did work but when he sync the back-up memory to the phone...the problem came back..so that means if i want this fix i will loose all my contacts, pics, videos....that sucks big time!!!!! I thought 3GS is so much better...but hell NO!

    • Wow! You are amazing! Thank you! Don't know why this happened! I didn't drop or anything! Do you know why this happened by chance?

    • OMG! you are a star! I too was one of the dweebs who thought they had wrecked their iphone, but thankyou soooo much for saving my bacon!

    • darn! I thought I'm going to throw my iphone away, thanks a lot!!

As mentioned by others: double tapping with three fingers turns this feature on and off. What's not been mentioned is that this is a feature of universal access, which adds features to allow those with limited sight or hearing to use the iPhone. This is an option. It defaults off and had to have been turned on by the user for this feature to have been activated. You can turn it on and off at the bottom of the main sync screen in iTunes.

    • u r simply awesome sir i actually blamed iphone a lot but now i am kinadaa happy.....................

I had this problem.I took mine to Best Buy (that's where I have my insurance and bought my Iphone). Nothing else i tried worked and I tried EVERYTHING. No one there had seen it before. But I did read on a site that you can double tap the screen with three fingers and that it would go back to normal (it did not say whether to have your fingers together or apart when tapping?) anyway you could try this first before a factory restore, Sorry if the double tapping does not work like I said the factory restore fixed mine before I read that. If you do a factory restore- sync your phone before taking it in, I do know the phone does function in Zoomed mode, if you hold a finger at the corner of the phone-> hold your finger in the corner you are trying to get it to scroll to- the screen will glide down or up to see more icons you want to locate hope this helps you- S Blackwell

    • Yes! This has work' just hope it doesn't keep happening, although its no great hardship the three finger tap.

This just happened to me and I spent a day first doing a reset, then a restore, then a restore via iTunes before driving to AT&T who told me it was an Apple problem, and then finally calling Apple tech support. The three finger double tap described in the many posts above cured the zoom problem. Why, why, why doesn't a reset or restore fix this stupid problem?!?!?
On a 3GS phone you can permanently disable this useless feature by going into Settings>General>Accessibility and turning the Zooming feature Off.

    • You really helped me, because you told me how to PERMANENTLY disable the zoom feature!
Thank you so much...I was going crazy with this problem!

There is a YouTube demonstration of this problem and the three-finger double tap fix for the problem at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvcYZOiERaY There is another demo for a way to turn this zoom feature into a low level security system as well at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzx9H9clu7E and finally, a new glitch "SUPERZOOM" has now been reported and found to have the same solution and this video can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cygic6uQujk HOPE THIS HELPS!!

simply go to settings>general>accessiblility>turn zoom off

    • thank you so much ...i was getting crazy about this ....

same thing happened thats to everyone saying double tap with 3 fingers. I had such a hard time

Hello
You have tried the reset which is a good thing, but nothing happened. Can you try once again: "Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears"
Hop this helps

i just had this problem with the screen took me ages to find this solution. been stressing for ages. thanx to everyone who took the time to post the answer. 3 finger tape worked thank god

Heres my solution
Settings-general-accesibility-zoom on or off

    • thank you! I had the same problem, googled it, found your tip and now it's off!

Thank you! Three taps, simple! Sooper! Great that Apple are thinking about accessibility, not so great that I had no idea what was going on...or how to fix it... (Perhaps compounded by the fact I'd spent an hour or two in the pub before it zoomed in y'day and was therefore a little more confused than normal!) I love Google - one simple search and one happy lady.

By turning off thee accessability option you cure the real problem
on a 3GS version.

When the main screen is activated occaisionally the Phone locks up usually at the most inconvenient time.

The clue was when I was able to reactivate the phone the Icons on the main screen were only slightly larger than normal not as large as the zoom mode and when this happened the phone would lock
The next time the icons were normal and no problems.

Since I turned of the zoom option I have had no more problems
of this kind.

thank you hind_1973 and briancarskad

Awesome! It worked. Thanks guys. Restore didn't work for me.

Ew, worst feature ever. Why the hell would I want to get my iphone stuck zoomed in? My boyfriend almost just murdered me because of this. (tap with three finger; just so you people qualify this as a solution) But damn, this is so lame.

If you work your way into settings you can turn off the zoom and this will solve this stupid problem. Why didnt the retards who made the iphone make a reset button. No offense to you people who made the iphone.I hope you used my advice and solved your problem good luck my fingers are crossed!!

Had the same, suffered for 5 hours, reseting and re-booting, i got ready to go give it back to the company i bought it from (a month ago!) and then i googled ''my iPhone screen zoomed in" and the rest is history :)

thank u all for your help ive spent days stressing trying to sort it out!!

yes you can zoom back to normal with the three finger double click but WHY does it happen in the first place and who is this feature useful for. You can barely operate the phone.

All I did was pick up the phone and suddenly this rediculous zoom. I think its one hell of a big bug myself.

Never trust a corporation.

    • thanks mate i also had the same problem the 3 finger tapping worked well..... what a world we in such world a problem such small can frustrate someone for sumtime.

The kids have now been banned from using it, but now we have a fix, cheers, kids are still banned tho lol

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My grandchild was about to go on permanent punishment for playing with my phone. I called tech support and they wanted to charge $30. As my son say's "google is your best friend". Three taps with 3 fingers was so easy. Thank all of you for this simple solution.

with the zoom feature selected, the three finger tap doesnt zoom in anymore, i had gotten used to using this tool, but no longer works, you can see it trying, jumps ( screen barely zooms, very hard to detect, when tap the three fingers,

    • thank you a lot. it's work. i'm so happy. thank thank you so much.

    • By avatarmcdaidusa707 Nov 04, 2010
    • If the three finger double tap does not seem to work, or only causes a minor zoom, you need to adjust the amount of zoom by using the three finger tap and drag method. See the video
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUfdz4mGW...
for how to do this. Once you learn the method you can set the zoom for whatever level you wish.
