    Thanks.

I overrided the door switch and watch the water come into the dishwaser. The level never reached the heater elements. Does this sound like the fill valve?

  • tom_gerharte Jul 29, 2009

I closed the door switch with the door open to watched what happens during the wash cycle. The water filled slowly to a low level (below the heater elements) and then started spraying from only the lower spray arm without rotation and only low pressure 4-6" streams. There was no water reaching the upper arm.

  • tom_gerharte Jul 30, 2009

My ASKO D1776 dishwasher does not clean the dishes. I overrided the door switch so I could see what was happening. The water filled slowly to well below the heater elements. Then the water started to spray weakly from the bottom wand. the top wand was dry.

  • tom_gerharte Jul 30, 2009

Are you saying the circulation pump may not be activating. Could this be since water is getting to the lower spray arm and spraying out weakly about 4-6 inches?

  • tom_gerharte Jul 31, 2009

when i filled the bottom of the dishwasher with water from a pitcher everything seemed to start working. What needs to be fixed to get the dishwasher to fill more. It automatically fills only to the top of the filter screen in the bottom of the washer.

  • tom_gerharte Jul 31, 2009

correct model number D1796FI. ASKO helped me increase the water level by increasing the fill time by 150 seconds. It now works. What caused the low water level. Do I need to replace a water inlet valve? What senses the water level?

    Thanks.

It seems there may be a blockage in the input hose or the tap is partially tuened off. If this is a built in where no one camn inadvertantly turn it the tap off it might still be corroded with lime or iron from the quality of the water. If there is no filter on the line particles can buld up in the inlet. Pre entry filters inline can also corrode so remove and clean if neccessary

Remove hoses and ensure they are not blocked. Check tap inlet has sufficient presssure when hose is removed.
Make sure there is not a broken inlet pipe outside before it enters the cavity to the machine.
If you find lime or iron corrosion in the inlet you van be sure it is inside the machine as well There are disolving products you can use the help clear it out .
Fit the hose back to base of machine. Fill hose with CLC or whatever is available from h.ware store to remove calcium lime and Iron buildup and connect to water tap again. Leave for a few hours to let it commence its work. ( tap off) The turn tap on to pressureise the line and leave for a further hour . Then run it throuh a cycle and check the machine functiomns properly.CLC will not harm the mechanism of the machine

If none of this is the case then you have faulty seals and the nachine will need repair/replacement.

Check to make sure that the jet holes in all the arms are not clogged. You can use a toothpick to unclog them. This is usually the reason dishes won't get washed. The other reason is a lack of water pressure either due to household pressure, or a valve in the washer or house is not fully opening.

I guess it is most likely the circulation pump. On this pump there is a condensator mounted. This will help the pump to get started. If this is broken, it wont circulate the water up to the sprayers.

- The condensator looks like a cylinder shaped about 2 inch long with two connecters white in color. its mounted on the pump.its not too expencive. im not sure what the price is. i just know price in norway, sence this is where im from. you can acsess this from behind the machine by removing a cover on the lower bottom. you can dismount the condensator and have it measured, just to be on the safe side.
- it can also be malfunction on the electricboard behind push buttons. you can check for blown comp on the board, and destroyed circuits.

Hi

First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. The water level should be just under the heating element when the fill cycle has completed. If its not, then possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.

The soap does dot dissolve

assuming you are using the correct dishwasher detergent type and quantity recommended for the dishwasher, the likely cause for detergent not dissolving is that the water is not circulating well enough through the wash arm. Check the wash arms are clean. Do dishes come out clean? Run the dishwasher with a cup correct side up on the top rack. If it is empty at end of wash then there is no water in the top arm.

Is the detergent dispenser door open during wash cycle?
Also lack of adequate wash water template can cause detergent to remain undesolved. Hope this helps.

  1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
  2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
  3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
  4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
  5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
  6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
  7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
Scrape away large pieces of food, bones, pits, toothpicks, etc. Burned on food should be loosened before loading. Empty liquids from glasses and cups. Foods such as mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice and tomato products may cause discoloration of stainless steel and plastics if allowed to sit for a long period of time. Unless the dishwasher is to be operated at once, it is best to rinse off these food soils. Load racks so that large items do not prevent the detergent dispenser from opening. If the dishwasher drains into a food disposer, be sure disposer is completely empty before starting the dishwasher.

Not sure if upper spray arm is working. Dishes on top shelf remain dirty. Lower arm works early in cycle but not top. Are they supposed to be working at the same time?

Something is blocking the extender from getting to top spayer arm. Push all drawers in and look to see if extender can be manually raised to arm. Slug buildup can effect a dishwasher also. clean with bleach and water. Pour bleach in the washer and run thru one cycle.

Asko 1996 appears "dead".....no lights flashing, won't respond to repeatedly pushing on/off button. Some water left in the bottom...siphoned it out, cleaned filters, no blockage there. Almost like it's...

Don't know if this will help, but my dishwasher has a "propeller" device above the top and bottom racks that spins while dispensing the water. If the dishes on either rack are stacked too high (i.e. if even one plate comes in contact with that propeller, keeping it from spinning properly) the dishwasher will go through its full cycle but will not use the soap (soap door will still be closed and soap packet still intact) and will not get the dishes clean.
However, it sounds like you either have a bit of a drain issue as well--or perhaps your dishwasher acts the same way as mine (if that's the case) but ceases to drain as well if blocked.

Dishwasher is leaving soap in dispenser and dishes aren't clean

Look for debris in the holes of the wash arms. Is the soap dispenser opening? If so you probably have either no water in the machine or no ciculation. Also be aware sometimes a fill valve will work for the first few fills and then not work once it is heated up a little. And the valve could be clogged causeing low or no water to enter the machine.

Dishes are not clean.. on top level the dishes seem to be steamy

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No water
Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

5. Not enough soap
If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

6. Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner.

Kenmore dishwasher not cleaning

Growand:

There is a rubber tube which supplies water to the top spray arms. That is, If yours has top spray arms. This rubber tube has to make a connection when one slides the top rack back in. That tube will rot after a while, check it out.

If the soap is not being used up, reduce the amount of soap you are using and run the dishwasher empty with a pie plate sitting on the bottom rack with a cup of distilled (cheap) vinegar in it. Run it hot and long, recheck and redo if neccessary.
