Go to the link below and download and install the siw standalone programme, install it and then go to the secrets line on the left click it and then your passwords and passkeys will show, don't worry there is no spyware.

Then you will have to reset the unit and enter a new passkey, press the little pin hole at the rear of the unit in for 10 seconds

Ive connected my belkin device to may desktop. Now im trying to connect my ipad to my modem or the belkin..but getting no where lol Ipad finds the modem but say 'unable to join the network'. Any ideas...

which belkin device have you connected to your desktop? The ipad will be looking for a wireless network to connect to. So you will need a wireless router to allow it to connect, also the modems ethernet cable needs to plugged into the wireless router and IF you have the modem connected directly to the pc to allow it to connect to the internet , then you need to connect a lead FROM the router to the PC

I forgot the password to the first connection of the modem router belkin. How can I recover

The security key for the router should be stored ihe computer that was used to configure the router, as well as any computer which made a wireless connection to the router. You should be able to retrieve the passkey from any of those computers, by installing some additional software.

For the computer that configured the router, download and install this program:
RouterPassView by NirSoft

For a laptop that connected to the router, download and install this program:

I have this type of belkin router ...ive plugged into the mains ...but do i need to connect it to my pc (which has the modem plugged into it) and what cable do i need to connect the belkin router to the pc...

The Modem should plug into the ROUTER, and not the computer or you cannot share the connection with other users there. Remember to set wireless security and consider changing channel to 11 to avoid conflict with wireless land line phones.

Router is not retrieving ip address through modem, when connected to the modem i recieve net but only local connection through router

if you are using a dsl modem and a wirelss router

you will

1. put your modem to bridge mode to connect the router

2. change the ip address of your modem to connect the router

tell me if you need help for doing this, or you can also call your ISP, they do it too

My Belkin 4 port router has the same IP as my Modem so my router will not detect my DSL connection. Ive asked Belkin for help but all they send me is gobblygoop!

I'm sorry to hear that Belkin did not help you with your problem. Let me help you with your concern instead.

Here's what we need to do:

Start by resetting the router to factory default - you just need to press and hold the rest button on the router for about 30 seconds (with the power on).

1.) Disconnect the Belkin router from your modem , connect a PC to the router (use the LAN port - either port 1 to 4).

2.) Open Internet browser - clear the address bar and type in , press enter. It will ask you for a password , do not type anything just press Submit. You should be able to access the router's web interface.

The router's web interface should like this (depending on the model #):

3.) Go to LAN settings. Change the router's IP address to (this will be the new IP address of your router) . Apply the changes. Once youapply the changes, you can access the router using the new IP -

4.) Reconnect your modem - router and computers. Reboot device by switching off the modem , router and PC.

5.) Power up the modem first. Wait for about 2 minutes, power up the router and restart your PC.

The steps I gave is applicable if your modem is not on bridge mode. If your modem is on bridge mode (meaning it requires a username and password from your ISP) - access again the router by going to and do the following:

Click Internet WAN > Connection Type and select PPPOE. Type the username and password from your ISP. Apply the settings. Reboot the modem and router.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

You have to reset the router and re-configure it with the new passkey.

Cant connect PC after encription

You may have a setting on the router that limits the number of authenticated wireless connections at one time. You will have to enter the web utility and check the wireless settings, particularily the security settings.
