Question about Frigidaire FRS6R5EMB Side by Side Refrigerator
I have a GE Profile Performance Model TPX24BPDA BB. The water stopped dispensing from the freezer door. Cube and crushed ice feature still works. Verified frig. is getting water, it still makes ice cubes. Disconnected water line from water dispenser valve and blew in line. Water came out of door dispenser, so no clog in line. Figured it could be a faulty valve so I ordered and replaced valve. After installation of new valve still no water dispensed from door. Would appreicate any advise you may offer. Thanks in advance, Tom

SOURCE: crushed ice only
Behind the ice bucket is a metal housing that holds the auger motor and solenoid. The solenoid is bad. When you go for cubed ice that solenoid should pull up the metal rod on the ice bucket so full cubes will come out. First check to make sure the metal rod on the ice bucket isn't somehow caught under the solenoid and not letting if move up and down. You can take out the ice bucket and press for cubed ice. You should hear a loud clunk noise. If not then you know the solenoid is not working.

Your best bet is to shut the unit down for a while and let it defrost. You've probably got your box set too cold. 0-5 degrees on freezer...38-42 on fridge side. If your unit is not digital, use a regular outdoor thermometer, close the door for half an hour and then open to read it. Adjust accordingly. If too cold...you're using too much energy, too.

Normally, the ice "cubes" are crescent shaped. The most likely cause for "crushed" ice is that the ice maker isn't getting enough water on its refill cycle after ejecting the tray. Becuase there isn't enough water, the ice looks crushed...it's actually shattered.
Check the water inlet and chute to the ice maker. Sometimes they freeze and have to be manually defrosted. A hair dryer will do the trick. Also check the water chute and be sure it isn't partially frozen.
Start there...if no luck you could also have a failing water filter or sticky water solenoid valve.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.
