You have a bad Ballast. This can be repaired sometimes by replacing the capacitors on the Ballast circuit board.

Replaced lamp broke in Sony KDS-R50XBR1 50" HDTV after 2 minutes

When you say "lamp broke", do you mean the lamp actually physically broke? (as in 'exploded'?)

Was it a Factory replacement bulb, manufactured by Sony? (did it have the Sony logo on the box?) Many "3rd party" lamps are made from inferior materials, made in inferior conditions... and produce inferior results... including what you've mentioned. If this is the case, I suggest getting a replacement, or better a refund, then get a real Sony lamp... personal experience speaking here.

Normal failure mode of the ballast is that it will usually be totally dead, probably 85% of the time. Sometimes you will see one that's struggling to output enough power to maintain proper brightness.

What you describe would be a VERY rare failure, indeed. The ballast can not really burn out the lamp, by design. It's possible the ballast could have been weak, and just now failed... if the lamp still looks to be in good physical condition, this is a possibility, though remote.

BTW... 6 years is pretty good, but it's more about operational hours. I believe those low power lamps should last 5,000 to 8,000 hours, for an original Sony lamp.

Another thing to keep in mind is the lamp cooling. If the fan that cools the lamp has failed, and for some reason the detection circuitry is not realizing that... this could be a problem. These arc lamps operate at about 1200 degrees F (internally), and require a lot of cool air to keep them from literally melting, or exploding.

I have a hitachi 50v710 I replaced the bulb now it wont work

EASY THING TO DO HERE IS REMOVE LAMP and see if it went in perfectly---when you have one problem--then replace a part and have something different usually something happened when you replaced the part.

It is always possible the new part is bad but you should have a different indication of some kind.

Hitachi Ultravision 50V710. Replaced the lamp bulb with the correct part step by step. Even cleaned out the dust that was inside before replacing. It went in fine, I put everything back together, but when...

lamps going out are normal so don't worry. On this TV, if you replaced with an exact replacement then it's not the lamp. Something is not reattached properly or completely. Normally it pertains to ventilation or a lamp access panel being loose. Check those out and make sure everything is tight. if it still doesn't work then check for blown capacitors on the different boards. My Tv that is a samsung does this when the back panel is not secured properly. Ventilation and proper securing of panels are always important. BUT NORMAL!

Take a few deep breaths and check it all out step by step back tracking areas that you accessed. Sounds like something is definitely loose. Maybe ribbon cables loose, fans, screws, boards, etc. Something is loose in there. Let us know so it updates your solution if this info helps.

Where is the lamp located on my 50v710 Hitachi TV

The lamp is located behind the lower removable speaker grill on the front of the TV. There will be a lamp door then the lamp is up inside the TV behind the lamp door. Make sure the lamp door is back in place before turning on the TV after replacing the lamp as the set will not work without it installed.

Hi:
Yes replace the blub with a sony original lamp. The lamps sold as replacements such as LTI these lamps are not good for use as they don't fully meet the specs for sony televisions. Look at the lamp manufacture on the bulb itself if you see LTI as the manufacture then replace the lamp with a Phillips brand lamp.

Tail light keeps on burning out after a few weeks or 2 months

How is the cars rear suspension. If its too stiff it could cause lights to fail. other things would be loose lens asm. water getting inside, stereo speakers in the trunk. poor contacts at the lamps socket, and even an alternator that's over charging. Also, sounds funny, but cheap bulbs too.

Installing a lamp in the Hitachi 50V710 projection TV

The lamp is on the bottom left side. Remove the plastic piece that goes across the TV below the screen. It will snap off. No screws. Remove 2 screws to access the lamp carriage.
Make sure you DO NOT touch the new lamp with your bare hands.
