Well it's probably a hardware issue. Most likely it's either your monitor or your GPU or the cables between the two.

You will first want to make sure your DVI video cables are properly connected. You will first want to shut down the computer and the monitor and unplug the power cords. Make sure the DVI (the cable connecting the monitor to the computer) cable is securely connected to the monitor and the computer. The thumb screws should be tight and the connectors should not move or wobble in their sockets. Make sure the cable itself doesn't have any obvious breaks or sharp kinks. If you cannot get a secure connection or if there's any damage to the cable you will want to replace it. If you happen to have another DVI cable around that you know works, you might try replacing it as well.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, the next step is to determine if it's a issue with the computers graphics processor and video memory. You can rule out the GPU by restarting the computer in safe-mode. If you're using Windows, safe-mode can be accessed by pressing the f8 key while the boot screen (the screen that has a manufacturer logo) displays before Windows loads. While if you are running Unbuntu this is done by pressing Left Shift at the boot screen. If you do not have the lines in safe mode, it is an issue with your video card and it will need to be replaced. If you still have the vertical lines while in safe-mode it may be that the monitor is broken and will need to be repaired or replaced.

My sansui pc/tv monitor isn't working properly when I connect it to my desktop.

Windows is likely crashing while loading recently upgraded device drivers. The most common culprits for this scenario are video drivers.

The next time you boot, as soon as you see the Dell splash screen, start tapping the F8-key about once every second until you see a white on black menu. If you see the Windows logo, you missed it (try again, this time start tapping the F8-key a little before the Dell splash screen).

This menu will allow you to boot Windows in "Safe Mode", which will bypass any non-essential drivers and applications that could be causing the crashing. Select "Safe Mode with networking".

Assuming the computer booted fine in Safe Mode, you will be able to remove the troublesome drivers. You will see an informational message about Safe Mode, which you may close at any time. Right-click "My Computer" and select "Manage". Wait a moment for the Computer Management window to appear. Then, click on "Device Manager". If Windows was able to identify the faulty driver, it will appear in the list with a bright-yellow triangle. If this is the case, right-click and "uninstall" it. If it did not show up, first click the tiny white triangle next to "Display Adapters" and "Monitors" to open those categories. Then, right-click and "uninstall" everything listed within the two categories. Your computer will probably boot normally after doing this. But, try and find the proper driver for you video adapter before rebooting if possible. I recommend also re-installing the chipset drivers which may be related to the problem.

To attain drivers for your specific Dimension B110, visit the following link and enter the service tag code on the back or side of your machine: Dell Drivers

Desktop screen

try booting in safe mode and see if the screen displays properly.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal.

Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor shows the 1 inch black space then your video card might be going bad or you might have a virus infection. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok then your original monitor is bad.

My HP A735W is turning on but stays in power save mode and no key board or mouse function

I think the issue is your monitor. If the monitor constantly says Power Save Mode and not let anything else display then the monitor might be bad. See if we can isolate the problem by the steps below.

Try booting up in Safe Mode and see if the monitor works ok.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. If it works ok in safe mode then the monitor is ok and we might have an issue with a setting.

If the Borrowed monitor works ok, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same thing as your original monitor then the issue is with the computer (possibly the video card).

My monitor is not loading. Video card has been replaced twice system boots up fine. Have read the ASUS P5QL motherboard Manual and have looked at the Jumpers not sure what the issue might be

your monitor might be faulty

restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer

Reboot the computer As the computer is booting repeatadly press the F8 key as the computer is booting

If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen.

Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode

Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.

select enable the vga mode

you will need to connect to another monitor or your television to your computer with the vga lead monitor connection

Message on monitor says " no analog signal".

If you are getting no post display on boot up (dell spash screen, and windows loading screen):

First step is to plug a different monitor into the computer. If this works you most likely have a bad monitor. If not then it is a hardware issue with the video card on the computer.

If you getting the post screen then you may have your resolution set to high, boot in safe mode (F8 on the key board right after the post screen) and chose safe mode. once windows comes up, right click the back ground and chose a lower resolution setting.

Hope this helps

Problem with starting up me dellE153FP

Try turning on your computer and keep pressing F8 and it should bring you to a menu. Choose "safe mode" and see if you can get into safe mode. If you can get into safe mode and then go into system restore and choose a date back to when you computer was last working properly for you. If you can't get into safe mode and goes back to a black screen then your OS is corrupt and you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and restore you computer back to factory defaults.
