SOURCE: Will onboard attachments from Dyson DC33 fit Dyson DC40?

Hi CharlieFelicia, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33 and DC40 include very similar onboard tools - a Stair tool, and a Combination tool. These share our click-fit connection design, so the tools from DC33 should fit to the end of DC40's wand, and also directly to the hose cuff for cleaning in confined spaces.

SOURCE: Why is my Dyson DC40 blowing and not sucking

actually if it is moving air as your question suggests, nothing is wrong with the unit, if it is blowing then it is in fact sucking...I feel the problem may be user error.

Beater bar wont turn on my dc 40 when i but the handle down

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

HOW DO I TAKE APART MY DYSON

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm not sure from your question which aspect of your Dyson DC40 you want to take apart. However, please be aware that dismantling your machine any further than is shown in the User guide can void your Dyson guarantee, so we strongly advise against this.

If you're having difficulty with your DC40, you should be able to resolve this quickly and easily following the simple troubleshooting checks shown in our Support pages. Just select the menu option that's relevant to your issue: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc40/dc40-multi-floor

If you would like some further help or advice from our experts, you're welcome to give the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
