Yes, that is a standard policy on many servers.
Yes, it sucks when you are the one sending them.
However, you have got to take some satisfaction that the person that wants to send you and 25 of your friends an ad for Viagra can't do it either.
It is just the nature of the world that when someone abuses a service everyone pays for it.
You should be able to use multiple email accounts to get around this problem. Try making another Yahoo account and/or get one from another free provider like Hotmail.
You can also stay in touch with a large group by using sites like FaceBook where you can organize groups and post information instead of sending it to everyone.
BTW: TYPING IN CAPS IS CONSIDERED TO BE YELLING TO EXPERIENCED EMAIL USERS. Please avoid using all caps as a courtesy to all of the nice people here at FixYa.
