Question about Intex Easy Set 2500 Gph Filter Swimming Pool Pump

Filter motor leaking water when off and filter chamber only filling half way. Think the motor chamber is sucking in air.

the leaking is coming from the intake hose attached directly to the motor. I tried tightening the metal band but it still leaks. I tried to remove the band and remove the hose to see why it's leaking but it won't come off the motor.

Where is water leaking from? If it is around the lid, assure the gasket on the lid is there and in correct position.

It now won't come off? hmm....I would think that the leak is cause from a worn (or lack of) a black o ring that should be on the stem of the motor. (where you attached the hose).

If it now won't come off, I'm thinking maybe the black O ring has become twisted and wedges in the hose/stem, making it difficult for the hose to come back off.

Keep trying to pull it off. Maybe twist and pull in various directions. It should eventually come off. If it's done that, the black O ring is probably damaged, so you will need a replacement. Once that is replaced, you shouldn't have a leak anymore.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

is the crankcase over filled? To much oil will cause that, and check the air filter. I had a motor that sucked air thru the crankcase breather (and the oil with it) when the air filter was plugged up.
The only other cause I can think of would be a bad or broken piston ring.

Question:

What do I do if my pool/spa pump is loosing suction or prime?

Answer: by Osko Pool n Spa Pool Pump Losing Suction or Prime If your Swimming Pools Filter system looses Prime, it is caused by one of the following conditions.
Note: The lost of suction/prime is caused a leak which in turn sucks air into the system. The lost of suction/prime will be anywhere from the Main Pool Skimmer(s) to the Pool Pump. It will NOT be from the Pool Pump to the Pools Main Return(s).
1) First make sure that your water level is high enough so that the skimmer is not sucking air.
2) Check the Pump Pot Housing Lid Seal and be certain that its completely sealing and is not
Sucking air into the system. Check the lid for cracks. If either condition is true, replace the Pump Pot Lid Seal and/or entire lid
3) Check all fittings, clamps and hoses from the pools skimmer to the Pools Pump Pot Housing for wear, tightness and leaks.
4) Check Pool Pump Pot Housing for cracks.
If everything aforementioned in good working order, the next thing to check is the Pump Pot Housing Main Seal and the Pumps Impeller and finally the pump.

5) While the Pool Pump Motor is running, carefully inspect the area where the Pump Pot Housing attaches to the Pump Motor. See if there is any water leaking. Next, spray the area with water and see if the water is sucked into the Housing. If so, your Main Seal is damaged.
6) Disassemble the front half of the Pump Pot Housing from the back half and inspect the Pump Motor Impeller. (This is a high suspect part). See if there is any sign of wear or breakage. (This happens over time from debris in the water passing over the impeller). If so, your Impeller is damaged.
7) Re-inspect the Pump Pot Housing Main Seal by standing the partially disassembled upright, with the Pump Motor towards the ground. Pour water over the impeller and into the cavity. See if the water leaks thru to the outside of the Pump Pot Housing. If so, your Main Seal is damaged.
8) Remove the cover from the rear of the Pump Motor. Using a large standard blade, (straight), screwdriver or wrench... turn the main motor shaft. Listen for grinding and/or rumbling and feel for any restrictions while turning. If you hear or feel either, your bearings and/or brushes are damaged.
If everything seems to be in good working order, then you need a new pump... not just replacement parts

The motor and filter seem to be ok, but can't get it to prime. Everything is working, just very little water pumping into filter.

It sounds like you have a suction leak or a clogged impeller. A quick way to check the impeller is to fill the pump pot (where the basket is) with water, then start the pump with the lid OFF. The water should be sucked down into the pump immediately. Turn the pump off. If it took more than about half a second for the water to disappear you need to open the pump and clear the debris from the impeller.
Otherwise any leak from the skimmer to the pump will cause the problem. Make sure your pump lid o-ring is lubricated.

Can you run a waverunner with out the air filter set up?

Usually on a boat the air intake system blocks water from entering the engine. On a waver unmet there is always water in the bilge splashing around inside the motor compartment. Not good for it to be sucked into the intake. Water injestion will destroy the motor faster than you think.

I have a GB Siesta model stove top espresso pot and it only ever makes half of what it should.....I have other pots and don't have that kind of problem.....am I missing something?

The GB Siesta Oro was sold with a "Reducing Filter". This filter allows you to make half of the amount of coffee stated as the capacity of the pot. It is the mesh disc with the small stem that sits on top of the coffee after you fill the filter. If you want to make half the capacity of your pot, fill the chamber half way and use the reducing filter. If you want to make the fill capacity, fill the chamber completely and don't place the reducing filter on top of the coffee. Good luck. I hope you enjoy your pot as much as I enjoy mine. Ciao

I have a hotpoint ulitma wt741. my machine seems to overflow the water just filled the drum. i had to turn off the mini blue valve for cold water to stop the water overflowing. how can i fix this ?

To avoid confusion i`ll give you the senerios.Your washing machine was NOT in use and somehow it just fills with water over the day ,slowly filling up and never stops-this is the inlet valve u/s and water seeps, drip drip until the machine leaks-replace valve only answer.Or ,the machine is in use and water doesn`t stop filling up either on wash or rinses-can be valve not shutting off because valve is faulty, similar to above, this is rare but not unknown,or much more likely the air trap/filter is blocked up which is not telling the pressure switch to cut the power to the valve with the correct amount of water.IF the filter/air trap-a rubber hose with a large hose clip and a white looking chamber sprouting from the hoses r/h/side- is at the rear of the machine(to the right of the motor looking from the rear of the machine) this is where you should look first ,if your filter is at the front (r/h/s) i don`t know the answer to this part of the question.

I am contacting you as I am a bit desperate for help. Please advise as to what should be done with regard to the Savio Skimmer Filter SS0000. At around 5pm when feeding the fish, I noted the skimmer...

This means that the filter or leaf basket is blocked. When the pump is off, the water levels will look fine, but when the pump pulls water through, even a partial blockage of the filter or basket limits flow so the level falls and eventually the pump 'sucks air'. Remove and thoroughly clean the leaf basket and filter. Good luck!

We do not know where the air filter valves are

Air filter?

Remove the strainer basket cover ... fill with water ... check the gasket ... replace if questionable ... close the cover and SNUG the top down. Start the pump ... it should run just fine.

If you are sucking air, tighten the strainer basket cover a little.

Still sucking air? You will have to find the air leak. You might plug the leak with plumbers putty.
