Need to repair a small seam crack/separation in Uvex

Need to repair a small seam crack/separation on an old 1964 Ampeg babybass. It is starting to separate near the neck, I want to know how to fix it before it gets bigger! I understand that these basses are made of Uvex and filled with foam.

Its actually one of the seams on the Uvex body. It is noticeable separated... I just don't know what kind of strong hold "glue" to use for Uvex...

Is it just the paint/finish or the body/neck itself? If it's the finish splitting(happens on many old instruments) then its nothing to worry about. Keep the instrument in a dry place that is around 70 degrees. If the splitting is in the neck joint itself then get some glue and repair it.

Sounds like you have a loose connection. Try re-soldering the
internal connection. and check the wire for breaks. it may be the cause of your intermittence. Good Luck!!

I have no sound. Headphone jack is working. Speaker is not. Need help troubleshooting.

With no leads connected to speaker, use an ohmmeter to check resistance of speaker. If NOT less than 10 ohms, you be replacing the speaker. Also look for loose speaker wires. More than that and is will require repair in the shop.

Power to my Ampeg BA-115 quit suddenly whilst playing. Back of amp was hot - there was a crackle immediately before it quit. I allowed it to cool down and then turned it on, but it was dead.

Here is your schematic. Likely the fried components are visible.

Scroll down to "get manual" and click to download. IGNORE other download links.

When repairs have been done, start this up using a 100 or 150 watt incandescent lamp in series with the power cord to act as a fuse... There likely are several components blown and you may not get them all the first time. The lamp acts as a resettable current limiting fuse so you don''t blow out what you just replaced.

I use an SVT450H with the SVT410E and the SVT15E both 8 ohm Ampeg cabs. I have to have the main gain on 5 to 6 and the master volume on 7 to 8 and that is in smaller venues. I use a 1964 Fender Jazz Bass...

Check to see the phasing of the two cabinets and the cable. Take a 9 volt battery and touch it to the end of a cable that is plugged into the cabinet. The + of the battery has to be on the tip, and the - to the sleeve. See If the speakers move outward. Check each cabinet if they do then they ae in phase. Now try it with the second cable the results should be the same. If not and they move in the opposite direction then that cable is wired wrong. If one of the cabinets move in the opposite direction than the cabinet is wired wrong. You can also run one cabinet at a time if they sound louder by them selves that should also tell you that something is out of phase.

The CD input on my Ampeg BA 115 works, but the 0db and -15db inputs don't. This happened immediately after using the CD input. Quick fix, or repair shop? Thanks.

Hello,

Sounds like a repair shop job to me. Inputs on a amp have resistance thus there must be a issue inside hence 0DB to 15DB if you go higher well that input thus would not work anymore.

Repair shop would be your best bet for this amplifier. Quick Fix would be unplug it and plug it back in and praying it resets but that won't happen.

hope this was of some help, if not I am sure others will chime in with there 0.2 cents.

All the inputs on my ampeg bass amp are not working even the RCA input is not working. the amp still turns on

If none of the inputs work, then you may have lost part of the power supply. DO NOT go into this amp under any circumstances !!!!...there is enough voltage in here to kill you crispy !! I would strongly recommend that you take it to a respected repair shop that specializes in guitar amps. Possibly visit the ampeg website for an authorized repair center. It might cost a few bucks, but the Ampeg is highly sought after by musicians everywhere !!!....thanks... Rob
