This is (unfortunately) common with DC16 --- check to see if the red lights flash when it stops -- this is the "no filter" warning shut off. I have been living with this problem for about 3 years. Fix: remove the main filter (blue flexible plastic thing) -- note the small cylindrical metal magnet near the bottom --- it is not close enough to the sensor (sensor is buried in plastic body) . Try folding some paper and wedge it behind the filter to force the magnet closer to the sensor -- this can be done but required a bit of patience.

It's only a few months old though! And I have lost the receipt. Looks like I'll be buying a new one, thanks though.

SOURCE: I bought our Dyson Animal V6 a week ago and the thing has stopped working! Blue light is flashing to indicate low battery, but when plugging in to charge no lights are coming on and it wont charge!
