Question about Maytag Atlantis MDE7400AY Electric Dryer
I just moved and have a three-prong dryer and a four-prong outlet, and you can indeed switch out the cords. Just buy a new, 4-prong pigtail and then the three wires go with their corresponding color connections and the fourth is a ground wire, which connects to a metal plate on the outside of the dryer. Mine has a "ground" symbol on it - kind of a pole or vertical line with three horizontal lines under it. You should be able to find it and reattach it without too many problems, I did and I'm a 21-year old female who had never even seen the back of a dryer until recently! My problem now is that I just moved (hence rewiring the dryer!) and apparently a piece of lint fell down against the heating element. Now I have to find a way to get the back and sides (all connected) off of this dumb dryer . . .

WHy are you switching the cord from a 3 to a 4? If the dryer came with a 3 prong cord and its a 3 prong terminal block, then i dont think you can change it to a 4 becuase you will short circuit. DOes the terminal block where your cord was hooked up have 4 terminals. Each termial can only have one lead/wire to it. check your circiut breaker panel? Is the circiut breaker tripped?
