Mine used to do that. I got told that it was from using too thin paper. They recommended using decent A4 rather than cheap thin paper. I bought some and have not had the problem since.

Maybe you should read the user's manual? I've reas cutomer's review at Amazon and looks users have no problem with the scanning feature of this printer. If you don't have the manual, get it from here: Canon PIXMA MG2520 Manual

You should be able to download the drivers from this site. click on the + to read details of each driver and instructions on download and install.

1.Click the Tools->Options menu item.
2.Select the Print tab.
3.Make sure Include with document/Document Properties is DEselected.
4.Click OK.
In Word 2007:
1.Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window.
2.Click the Word Options button.
3.Click Display.
4.Under Printing Options, uncheck Print Document Properties.
5.Click OK.
Hmm. That model doesn't have the best reputation. Even if you just got it, try running a cleaning cycle; lines across a print usually mean either a clogged jet or debris on the print head.
