Viewsonic VP930b color problem - Red tint

Hi

I have a Viewsonic VP930b LCD that has a red tint. I have tried connecting it to two different computers with VGA and DVI connections and from all the sources the images are displayed with a red tint. It is as if in the color calibration I had set up everything to 100% red.

The weird thing is that the monitor appears to be working fine, when there is no signal, the monitor displays the Main Menu of the monitor and everything looks fine, the menus have the right colors, the background is black.

It appears to be the monitor cannot process the signal properly from the computers. I have used the same cables with other LCDs and the images look fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

    Hi

Thanks for the tip but I forgot to mention I had already tried that. In the monitor menu I tried what is called "Memory Recall" and it did not work. I also tried what is called a hard reset by pressing a specific sequence of buttons at the moment the monitor is turned on and it did not work either.

Do you think there is something else I could do?

    Regards

Go to the setup menu on the LCD panel by pressing button 1 on the front. See if there is an option to reset the lcd to factory settings. Reset it and report if it helps not.

Go to the color adjust option and set it to 6500K. Try increasing the brightness. If nothing helps then I think your LCD backlight is weak.

Hi My VP930b has ared tint on DVI and on D-sub 1 and 2 tried an other computer, cables, reset ect.

A red/pink streaks or tint is a indication that the CCFL lamp about to fail. The CCFL lamp is a mini fluro tube. The wires on existing CCFL lamp requires unsoldering and the new CCFL lamp soldered back on to these wires.
Replacement CCFL lamps for your model monitor are available from this WEB site.

I have a Viewsonic Monitor vs11349 and it will not connect with my acer PC...it comes up "no display". The monitor has a DVI that I need to use a VGA adapter. SHouldn't it work?

Did you try the setting on the monitor to use the DVI port instead of VGA port. Should also try it on another PC to narrow down the problem. Try VGA to VGA cable also.

My VP930B monitor screen is so distorted that you can barely see what is there. Once in a great while the picture will suddenly be perfect! The monitor and tower both have a DVI-i dual connectors , but my...

Could be. You can try using the VGA port just for a test. Connect it to a friends computer or a laptop. also, there is the following solution for unusual problems on the VP930B:

It is caused by bad capacitors in the power supply circuit.

Open the monitor, and look at the power board. There are six capacitors. Replace the 220uF @ 25V and the 1000uF @ 16V capacitors. I would recommend replacing them with 35V and 25V capacitors respectively.

If the serial number on your monitor starts with Q8H you could also have a bad IC on the main board. Q8 on the main board is an FET in an IC package. If this problem persists solder a wire from the right side to the left side. There is one pin that turns the IC on and off. All the other pins (per side) are soldered together. Do not solder the pin on the left side that is by itself. Just leave it. Solder ALL the other pins on the left to ALL the other pins on the right.

Remember, do this ONLY if the problem persists after replacing the capacitors AND if your serial number starts with Q8H.

DVI input on monitor not working

Contacted viewsonic about this issue- they suggested- have both dvi and vga hooked up to same machine. start with poweroff on both. power on monitor, then power on computer. when you see display coming from the vga, power off pc, then disconnect vga cable, turn off power to monitor, disconnect power cord from monitor for 5 + seconds, reconnect power cord, power on monitor, then power on pc.
If this doesn't work to get the dvi working, (as happened to us) we returned our monitor for a replacement, since it was still under warranty.
