Make sure its on cooling not just on fresh air / vent setting. If the pads are not getting wet and the control is on cool fresh air, either A/ The machine is not filling with water or B/ The pump has failed.

SOURCE: AC pad not fully getting saturated with water

1. Make sure the pump is getting plenty of water.

2. Make sure the pump is working.

3. Check the pvc pipe with drip holes are not plug. (above the pads )

4. Check the pads directional arrow that should be facing up. When pads are initially installed you can see arrows on the pads. The arrows should be in the up direction. That will allow the pads to get saturated more efficiently.

I hope these steps help you.

Hi, I've just purchased a farm house with a Vulcan Bonaire evaporative cooler installed. My problem is that it leaves our tiled floors very wet, which is very slippery and dangerous.

replace the float valve in the water tray
evaporate coolers work by pumping water onto a screen through which air is blown
the hot air evaporates the water in the screen and the air out is cooler
works very well in hot dry climates but not so well when the humidity is above 80%

How to change the filter for vulcan evaporative cooler

I suppose you meant Vulcan Bonaire evaporative cooler.
By filter, I suppose you meant Filter Pads. Here is extract from the Owner's Manual.

Filter Pads: Visually check CELDEK pads for damage or blockage. Hose down pads from both sides to remove any build up of salts, dust and pollen. In dusty areas more regular

cleaning is recommended. Check the water distributor, making sure it is clear and free from blockage. Failure to do so may lead to uneven water distribution and therefore less efficient operation. Do not hose Celdek with high pressure.

Bonaire evaporative cooler

Those pumps tend to pick up a lot of dirt and debris. You will have to take it apart and see if something is stuck in the pump or the tubing from the pump to the distributing bars.

I have an evaporative cooler: vulcan bonaire. the only control buttons which appear to be useful are: on/off, cool in the 'appliance' window, and cool in the 'mode' window. i have a feeling that this is...

Hi and welcome to FixYa. The principle of operation of an evaporative cooler is to provide cooler air via evaporation. The evaporation process is achieved by water being pumped over very porous pads with air is drawn through the pads. Most all evaporative coolers unless connected with a centralized heat / cool system only have an on / off & cool function. "On" is fan only (air circulation while using outside air being drawn into the home) and "cool" turns on the pump to pump water over the pads for evaporative cooling. Hopefully I did not confuse you with my answer.

Happy New Year and thanks for choosing FixYa,

Evaporative Cooler Bonaire Profile do you put water in this item? or does it cool alone, it has a cool setting with a water drop sign?? besides the fan function

Yes, it does require you to pour water into it from the back opening (where the aspen pad is located). I have one myself it works well on days up to 35degrees, the other temperatures higher it just acts as a spot cooler.

Thank you for submitting, and Happy New Year

Ive got a mildewy smell coming from my evaporative cooler how do i get rid of it?

This unit needs to be serviced. Try replacing the pads with the sponge like pads.Drain the old water and clean up the pan and pump area. Go down to a pool supply store and buy some chlorine tablets and add to the water. In fact, they make these tablets just for the evaporator units. There are 3 states to water, solid, liquid and gas,
. This will get rid of the smell.

We bought a Bonaire cooling system at yard sale, it leaks water after it is running for awhile, plus it sprays water out the front

I take it this is a window Unit , the water is coming in the room because the Unit has to be pitched about 1/2 into the back ( outside ) or the drain line is clogged ( dirt) stopping water from flowing to condenser ( that cools the coil)
The water is condensation from warm air hitting the cold coil .

Do not know how to work/maintain swamp cooler

Make sure you have water to the unit, the water pump is on and the fan is working. No water=no cooling.
