SOURCE: hdmi

I have just purchased a Philips DVD Home Theatre System HTS8100 (Soundbar), HDMI, ambisound, etc. When I play some DVD's though I get the message "wrong region". What does that mean and how do I solve it. Also why do only some DVD's come up with that message.

SOURCE: Samsung lcd hdtv won't receive signal from fios hd receiver

Hey nothingsfree,

You may not necessarily have anything incorrectly set up, but there are a couple of things that I would suggest trying.

First, you'll want to make sure that your TV is set to the correct input source. Some TV's will require that the input source be changed in order to display any signals from an external device, like your HD-DVR. This can typically be done by accessing the main video menu using your remote control.

According to information provided by the manufacturer, you should be able to change the input source for this model TV (Samsung LN46A750) by doing the following:

* Press the "Menu" button on your remote control
* Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button to select "Input," then press "Enter"
* Press "Enter" to edit the "Source List"
* Highlight the signal source for the HD-DVR, and press "Enter"

Next, you may want to try updating the TV's firmware. In some instances, simply updating a TV's programming can eliminate any potential hardware or software conflicts between two devices. To update the TV's firmware you will need access to a computer and a USB flash drive. Step-by-step instructions and the firmware update itself are available through the following website:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDown.do?group=televisions&type=televisions&subtype=lcdtv&model_nm=LN46A750R1F&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=FM&vType=L&prd_ia_cd=02010100&disp_nm=LN46A750

Make sure to read all the warnings and disclaimers available though, as your TV may already have a more up-to-date firmware version than the one that can be obtained through Samsung's support page.

Should neither of these address the issue, you may wish to see if connecting your HD-DVR to a different HDMI input solves the problem. Much like computers, TV's have been occasionally known to have faulty inputs or loose internal connections.

If all else fails, I’d suggest contacting the manufacturer for further assistance. In many cases manufacturers are able to provide over-the-phone troubleshooting support, in addition to having access to a wider variety of possible remedies for hardware problems.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

SOURCE: samsung lcd ln46a550pf3 no sound from hdtv reciever

ok your tv does not come with the very best sound, you have to get a receiver 7.1 or you can use the optical wire , that's if the system you are using has that option.

Struggling to connect my Goodmans Freeview+ HD recorder (HDMI output) to either the DVI (female) or VGA (female) input of my Samsung LE27T61B TV which is HD ready with a resolution of 1366 x 768.

They are different protocols. You have to have a converter than changes the protocol (protocol is like a language...it needs to be translated to a different language). They are available from eBay or amazon but they don't always work very well. Best thing to do is get a unit with the correct connections.

Why is tv saying no signal?

Connect a known working DVD player by using a new HDMI cable to HDMI INPUT 1 and check for signal.
If you have a DISH or CABLE system box, connect that also with a new HDMI cable to HDMI input 2 or 3 and recheck for signal. Your T V remote will have an input selector to change between the different inputs on your
T V.

LC-26DA5U 26 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television: i connect a hdmi cable 2 my hd cable box - the pic...

The cable box needs to be set to send different signals when using hd tv and standard tv. Usually a good setting would be 720p in hd and 480p in standard. The tv is working fine it is the cable box sending the signal. If you have another hdmi source such as a dvd player you may hook that up to show the tv is working just fine.

If by regular cables you are talking about the standard red/yellow/white composite cables, then, yes, it will affect HD as composite cannot send an HD signal. Only HDMI and component (red/blue/green video only) cables.

Change to HDMI and let us know if it works for you.

In most cases you will not be able to see a great difference between HDMI and Component connections. As far as not seeing a difference between HD and SD signals from your cable box, go into the settings of it and see what resolution it is putting out. If you have a Motorola cable box, with it off and the TV on press the menu button and the setup screen will appear. That will tell you the output resolution as well as what the 4:3 override is set to. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks....
