My Dirt Devil Bagless Upright suddenly has no suction either in the main part or the hose. I did vacuum up a ton of cat air 4 days ago, then empty the debris container. I can't afford a new vacuum.

I. get something long enough to go through the entire hose.
ii. push through hose as there may be some hairballs in there.
iii. check unit for blockages
if hose is blocked you could also flush it out with high pressure water, then allow to drip-dry.
iv. get a sphynx? :)

SOURCE: Dirt Devil Vibe No Suction

Sounds like there is a clog somwhere. Check the hose - you can undo the hose with a screwdriver but because of that bend use a pipe cleaner or a long wire to see if there is anything blocking the tube. Next check the dirt channels from the bottom of the hose on the Dirt Devil Vibe once the hose has been taken off. Check that the bottom part is clear and then tip the machine over, remove the bottom sole plate (4 screws, 2 at the front and 2 at the back near the rear wheels) to check the roller brush - sometimes if there is an obstruction in the dirt channel from the roller brush suction will not get through.

Dont forget however that there are two filters on the Dirt Devil Vibe. The top filter has to be unscrewed and then unlocked. Tap it a couple of times to dislodge any dirt and then lift out the second part filter at the top of the bin.

Dont forget to rate if this advice works. Thanks.

SOURCE: I have a dirt devil featherlite bagless vacuum;

there are 3 screws 2 on the left side behind the hose and 1 on the right back by the wheel.that will take the cover off.if you need to get into the bottom there is a screw on the bottom plate in the area where it looks like the belt travels.is the brush roller turning if not then your belt is probably broke.before you replace the belt clean off the motor shaft and get the old rubber off it otherwise the new belt won't last long.please leave feedback .be sure to clean your filter inside the dirt cup

SOURCE: Dirt Devil Swivel Glide Platinum vacuum suction problem

Is the suction tubing in the head assembly clogged, is the belt broke? If the if the belt looks good the brush may be turned off and you may need to turn the brush switch on.

Why vaccum not emptying

Hi! If no dirt is entering into the dirt cup it could be that you have a clog in your hose. Detach the hose from both ends and use a broom stick or something similar to carefully loosen and remove any clogs in the hose. Hope this helps! If not you can always reach out to us here on Fixya, Facebook.com/dirtdevil, or Twitter @DirtDevil. Thanks!

Why is my Dirt Devil Vacuum Hose lacking suction?

I have a Dyson and was having a similar problem some time back. I found out these bagless systems still have a filter that picks up the fine dust to keep it contained. Find out where yours is located and beat the dust out of it really good or just replace it.
Hope this helps.

Lost suction

TOSS IT and forget it! I have never used a hand vac that worked that was worth the effort of turning it on .... I suggest they are all junk ... I found very few vacuum cleaners ... actually **** especially anything made by dirt devil ... I do have a bagless Bissell 6579-2 that I purchased 4 years ago at walmart for $49 ... It outperforms any vacuum I've ever used, including my worthless Shop-Vac that I paid a lot more for ... this Bissell vac SUCKS ... It could **** the barnacles from a steamship!

No suction

Check the main filter cone - if it has a rip in it, then there won't be any suction in it, also clean it gently with a paint brush to get all of the dust out and check the back of the upright after the bin is taken out as sometimes there is dirt clogged at the back. Check the front of the sole plate i.e. where the roller brush is and check the dust channel behind this as it can get clogged. Due to the nature of this vacuum with the hose being located at the front of the floor head dirt can be trapped but most of all its the paper pleated cone filter that needs a good brushing. Hope that helps.
