How to disassemble Little giant pump model#psm006?

thats why i like the little giant pumps they are put together with phillips screws not glued like them other guys , i do suggest that if you dissasemble pump and water has gotten inside , replace it not just seal it up and go , wont last long as that means the pump shaft seal has leaked , ther e has been a few folks that add dietary mineral oil to the inside , for use in very deep ponds (over 3 feet) they believe that helps keep the water out

My Little giant wgp-65-pw has tripped my gfi repeatedly. any idea why? No shorts in the cord are apparent

if a pump connected to a gfci outlet trips , then the gfci has detected a high resistance "shortage" inside pump and has disconnected power , this "shortage" can be nearly in detectable from human standards(shock) , but gfci picks it up
most likely pump seal has failed and water has gotten inside pump !! it only takes one drop to do this !!

How do you add oil to a sump pump? Do you add it to the water in the pit?

dont add oil to water-- if u have to or want to oil motor get a spray lube unplug unit and at bottom remove debris guard only clips on and spray shaft and behind impeller if need to lube upper motor bearing unscrew housing and carefully pull up enough to lube top of motor replace housing careful of watertight seals and test pump oil poured into pit would only be pumped out and does not contact motor which sits in watertight housing

You can use a dielectric oil available at most motor repair shops. It is of the utmost importance to make sure the cord seal is in good condition and well sealed

24HR working pump question

Utility Pumps: Utility pumps draw water through openings that screen out debris. When placing one into a pond, use a pump sock or other enclosure to reduce the amount of cleaning needed. If you use a pump sock, be aware that sock-like screening can cause a dry pump situation. Solids Pumps: These pumps draw water through a large opening and pump small debris through without clogging. For this reason, they can be placed into a pond without prefilters. Note, however, that this type is not safe for ponds with fish, frogs or other aquatic animals
