Question about AKG C3000B Professional Microphone

2 Answers

I have an AKG C3000B microphone. It got very quiet.

I have an AKG C3000B microphone. In the middle of a song it went dead. (I may have bumped it with my guitar, but not too hard at all.) It works a tiny bit if the volume on the mixing board is turned to max. Please help. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback. But when my mic went "quiet" I used another mic in its place and it works fine. The trouble is definitely with the mic itself.

How to repair a C3000B with low output.

I had the same problem, and was able to repair it myself. i've seen several other posts with the same description, and if you can use a soldering iron, you're golden. I just now repaired mine, and it took less than 10 minutes. One of the leads going from the PCB board to the capsule was broken loose at the solder joint. Mine has been dropped, so no surprise. Somehow, if you boost the signal enough, you still get sound, where I would have expected silence.

You need a star bit set (I have a little mult-mini screwdriver set that has them stored in the handle from home depot.) There are two silver screws in the bottom lip. Remove these and the whole screen housing slides off. Even better, the capsule assembly slides out too. There are two prongs that plug into a harness when inserted.

There are two black wires from said prongs to capsule leads. See if one is loose. If so, solder that ***** back on and its as good as new, and hot signal.

You also need small plyers, someting to strip the small. I know this is a late post, but maybe it will elp somone. Good luck.

Thank you soooooooooo much Bwoods1!!!! That was my problem, too! I opened my C3000B but didn't see that small... one was broken. Soldered it and the mic is still good at a zero cost! Yours was a late post but helped me 4 years later!!!! Thanx a lot!

Thank you very much ! Was able to fix mine that had been dropped and stopped working. Just like yours, it was still producing some output when turning the preamp volume all the way up. Very odd. But now it's back !

Sounds like the connection to your preamp was severed. What pre are you using? Or what interface? Have you tried physically pushing the mic cable all the way back into the mic and the other end back into the interface or preamp? Follow the signal all the way from the mic to the computer and secure every physical connection. See if that solves it.

If this is a (phantom) mic, it has to be plugged into a phantom plug on a mixer (round black thing with 3 metal posts in the middle. Darren Kelly-themasterofthrowdown@yahoo.com

Maybe you could find a local music store that repairs equipment to replace the grill. Sometimes you can find parts on websites like Ebay.

I have a slight hum in this mic. have swapped cables, mics, et. It definately comes from this mic this is the original C3000 (black) not the B model.

Try the mike on another PA. Sometimes power phantom do weird things with electrical installations hum on the line. Let say commercial fridge.

Microphone cuts out

If you tried other cords and other PAs the problem might be in the jack where the cord plugs into the mike. service@akg.com might also be able to give you more info.

C 518 ML Isnt Working

Make sure that you are supplying phantom power. This mic requires it. Without phantom power, the mic will appear to be dead.

Let me know if that resolves the problem.

My mike just stopped working, dead?

The first thing to check is the phantom power. Make sure it is there. The mic will appear dead without the power present.
