check the recoiler ma be jammed or safety brake if off remove the plug and try pulling it if turns free then was air locked --if still doesnt move possible internal problem with piston or crank
its gears are bad.
or is jammed and the motor clutch slips.
the track must run free. or the motor will overload.
its just a simple motor and simple mechanics.
i remove motor and move parts by hand to see if jammed.
if not jammed its motor new time.
IF THE MOTOR IS JAMMED (JUST HUMS) LOOSEN THE CHAIN AND ADJUST THE LIMITS AND TIGHTEN CHAIN.
IF THE MOTOR ACTUALLY RUNS AND THE CHAIN DOES NOT MOVE THE DRIVE GEARS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY SELL A KIT THAT INCLUDES THE BUSHINGS AND SHAFT. DO NOT BUY THE SMALLER KIT AND DO NOT REPLACE ONLY ONE GEAR (THE OLDER WORN GEAR WILL CHEW UP THE NEW GEAR) THIS MAY BE WHAT YOU HAD DONE - IF SO CALL THE SERVICE GUY THAT DID THE POOR REPAIR AND HE SHOULD REPLACE BOTH GEARS UNDER HIS SERVICE WARRANTY. ANYONE WORKING ON THESE SHOULD KNOW BETTER.
The pull cord or rope works on a tight spring just under the cover that the rope is in. Usually three to four small bolts on the edge of the cover to remove to repair/replace either the spring or the rope. First I would try to turn the motor manually with your hand on the flywheel, it should move around either direction freely with no effort. If it does not the motor itself maybe stuck not the rope. Then you have a seized engine and a different problem to deal with.
its the bendix stuck on the flywheel, take off recoil cover and inspect bendix teeth, and operation, you will have to remove right hand footwell to get recoil cover off
If the motor is stuck in the open position the trolley may be jammed against a bolt just in front of the motor unit. If so, loosen the chain enough that the tension is taken off the trolley and then run the opener until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover and then tighten the chain.
If the door is not in the open position you may have a bad start capacitor.
try taking plug out to see if it turns then.if not take off pull cord assembley to see if something has come loose and jammed flywheel, failing that could possibly have snapped the piston ring and jammed. oh yes one last thing check clutch if you have chain brake on and clutch is jammed obviously wont turn.
You have obviously jammed or broken the chain on the inside of the motor. Take it to be repaired, or try reparing yourself by opening up the engine casing yourself.
It is usually just jammed, when you go out too far. Ifyou take the recoil starter off or loose , sometimes it goes back in on it own. If not ,carefully disassemble it and see if the recoil spring is broken.
