This is a motor failure code. The replacement of the motor and harness is recommended in this case.

The grinding is coming from the damaged sator assembly inside the motor housing. replace it asap, if possible.

Machine fills, then on entering wash cycle makes loud grinding noise kinda like a dull hacksaw on rusty metal.

Does it make the sound when you turn the drum by hand? It could well be the drum bearings that have gone.

My dryer makes a loud grinding sound and won't turn?

The grinding Sound is the motor attempting to start and not being able. If you find nothing binding the drum and you can turn it by hand fairly easily you will likely need a new motor. Otherwise, find and remove what is causing the drum from not turning

Start of the cycle the drum will start to turn but just hums. trys to turn the other way and does the same. it will eventully stop and throw a LE code = over load and motor. All this with or with out...

sounds like if it hums something has the drum fouled if nothing catching the drum then i would say the motor is at fault sounds like the motor is trying to start off the running winding instead of the start winding or a starting capacitor on the motor is bad

We have a Maytag Neptune Washer Model MAH-1, approximately 5 years old. Never had any problems previously. Last wash, noticed a loud grinding sound upon starting the cycle. I stopped the wash, and...

Sounds like the spider arm(s) are broken in your machine. It is the part that supports the wash drum in the machine. It's a major repair job and can be expensive to fix. Get a few estimates before deciding whether it is worth fixing or replacing the washer.

The dryer (Bosch Nexxt 500) makes a loud grinding noise when rotating. Any idea what this may be?

The noise could be your drum rollers need lubricant or replacement.
When the drum rollers get flat spots on them they will make a bumping/thumping type of noise.
The grinding noise sounds to me like the drum rollers are in need of lubrication.

I have an LG Tromm wm1812cw washing machine and besides all the mold and mildew problems it has, it is now making weird sounds when it spins or rotates the load. It is intermittent and doesn't always code...

With a 10 year warranty on their direct drive washer motor, eliminating a clutch or transmission, those enerty star LG's generally preform very well. (one of my customers runs 10 loads a day, 365 days a year in his)
Sounds like the shaft may have seperated from the three spider arms which actually turn the drum. To remove, you may have to grind end of bolt off motor shaft to facilitate dissassembly. It's a rather involved process. Prevent future mold and mildew issues by cleaning out the drain filter and then using a front load washer cleaner on longest, hottest cycle with no clothes (like ahfresh or washer magic, or whirlaway hot tub cleaner, to name a few.) then use not more that one tablespoon of HE detergent and a max of a teaspoon of fabric softener (if you use it) per load, as these machines are using very little water. (when you split the tub to replace the drive spider, use a pressure washer to clean out the inside of the outer drum and the back side of the inner tub) BTW, I have not found any reason to not stick with my LG washer and dryer. My seven year old set worked many a load, and still works great.

LE error code on LG WM0642 FL washer

LE is a locked motor error code.
It is usually associated with a loose motor connector wire or a defective Hall Sensor.

LG LE Error code

The 'LE' error message indicates the control board has detected that the motor is either not turning, or has locked up for some reason. Monitoring the motor is the job of the hall effect sensor board which constantly determines the direction and speed of the motor and feeds that information back to the control board. If there is a problem between what the motor should be doing and what the hall effect sensor says the motor is doing, the 'LE' will be displayed and the cycle will be stopped.

Le code and can start but sounds bad (rattles behind drum)

very unlikely it's the motor but could be the bearing is grinding or one of spyder bracket at back of drum has broken off. If you put it into spin with no load and just grinds then bearing is gone. if the drum wobbles and rattles then bracket is broken.LE code may or may not be related. Sometimes just plugging and unplugging the hall sensor at the back will eliminate the problem or just resetting it the way you did it. but if there's a real problem it will come back again.
