Question about Kenwood KW85 Air Conditioner
One of two potential causes here that I can see. First and most likely is that the screw is either not tight enough or the back plate was misaligned so that when the machine is running some of the air that must go through there to cool is leaking out. Fixing this should be a simple matter of taking the back plate back of and correctly reinstalling it.
The other option is very unlikely but you must always consider potential damage that was done to the refrigeration system itself. What was it that your boyfriend fixed? Refrigeration systems can be very unforgiving if incorrectly serviced. If you were leaking refrigerant in quantities enough to be heard I would feel confident that you could smell it however. Not to mention the fact that your machine would stop cooling effectively and cease to function altogether.
All in all I would make sure that the door is on correctly and if that doesn't solve the problem then I would have a QUALIFIED service person look at it.
