If you have 120volts at plug, chk for a breaker inside unit and again voltage inside unit at terms on cord, then if so chk motor for a breaker on the motor, some have built-in breakers, then check door interlock switch for continuity and proper operation, then if electonically controlled check for a fuse and burns on the circuit, you may have suffered a voltage spike, and do it soon, the power supplier may be liable if you can prove he disconnected the neutral and you only had 240volts,this could be a cause also as it becomes a voltage divider circuit w/o the neutral connected

The A/c and heating unit does not cut on anymore. What could the problem be?

Are you sure you have power? Is it 220? if so double check Circut breaker. If it's popped and pops again when you reset, unplug the unit. Try to reset again, If it pops again when you reset, you have major electrical problem call electrician. If it holds, then you have a major appliance problem that is causing the unit to "pop" the circut breaker. If it's a central unit similar diagnostics, but you can't unplug it. So call your Heating service people. It may just be your thermostat if central system, or more.if the Circut Breaker pops.

14 in. saw with leeson motor

To start with what size circut are you trying to run the saw on? What ever the amperage is on the saw will draw almost 3 Xs the amperage rating of the saw on start up. If the circut is a 20 amp the breaker should hold long enough to start the saw. Also the saw should be the only thing running on the circut at the time. A 1-1/2 hp motor is a good size one aproximately 15.2 amps If you circut breaker is twenty amps and you still pop the breaker you may want to convert the motor to run on 220 volts as that will drop the load to approx. 7.6 amps Youcan run the saw on a 20 amp. 220 volt circut with no problem unless there is a problem with the motor. If the outlet is the only outlet on the circut it is an easy change to convert the circut.

Kenmore dryer 70 series 66722690 - has power but won't start (no humming noise, no ticking noise from timer, and no light when you open door) nothing!

I would check the breaker before you go any further. Here are some things to remember when you do this. 1) The breaker for the dryer is generally located outside on the side of the house somewhere near the electric meter. Most 220vac breakers are, which include any electric range, cooktop, wall oven, etc. 2) When your checking the breaker, actually physically touch it. Sometimes breakers can trip a but the spring that actually pulls the breaker to off position is weak and by visual inspection would appear on. Just simply reach in and tap the bar lightly in the off direction. If it pops over to the off position, turn it back on then go check your dryer. If the breaker passes inspection, I would unplug the machine because there migfht be a short at the terminal block where the plug connects to the dryer. After you've unplugged it, remove the back and check to see if everything is ok. I have a strong feeling that you won't need to get to this point cause I'm betting on breaker.

Outside unit when turned on hums for a second, the house lights dim but the unit does not run.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. Before condeming the compressor it will need to be checked for grounded or open windings. If you are handy with an electric meter you can check the windings of the compressor. First thing to do turn the power off to the outside unit using the circuit breaker in the house or at the disconnect outside. The take the covers off the unit till you get access to the compressor which is located in the center of the outside unit. You will see a cover on the side of the conpressor where the wires go in take this cover off and you will see the connections with your meter set to ohms where it beeps when you touch the leads together check from wire connection to wire and check all three to each other. If those show resistance then still with the meter set to ohms beep ground one prond from the electric meter and then touch each wire connection one at a time with the other lead from the meter. If there is no resistance or beep on any of the connections then the compressor is not grounded. If both these checks are okay then I would put a hard start capacitor on the existing compressor capacitor to give the compressor a boost on start up so it doesn't pop the breaker.

I have an ariston dishwasher. it trips out the circut breaker every time i turn it on. all the motor, heating element etc are fine, so what could it be? im also after a wiring diagram. i think its an L65?...

When you say the motor and heater are fine have you applied an insulation resistance test to these components and to the whole machine for that matter. To trace a 'tripping' fault you need a megger, not just visual or a meter. You might go looking in the wrong place if you haven't megger tested the machine. Good Luck Tony

I was out of town, came back, dryer will not start, no electricity going into the dryer but fuse is fine and plugged

You said fuse was fine do you mean your house fuse? Or do you have a breaker. Breakers do go bad and will reset but not have any elect flow thru them can be cked with a volt meter. Also use a volt meter on the voltage at the dryer. The easiest way is to remove the screw holding the shield over where the dryer wire enters the dryer. Make sure you have 220 volts across the two outside wires outside wires to center wire will show 110 v each. If you have voltage your door switch is bad or your motor switch which is mounted on the electric motor beside the motor pully you can ck the door switch with a ohm meter after you remove it. you can access the door switch by popping the top of the dryer loose first remove the screws at the dryer cleanout vent if it is on top if it is inside the dryer when you open the door its fine. The door switch is located on the top inside front of the door area. it is a on off switch only if it goes bad nothing works. You will need an ohm meter to ck it you can pickup one from any hardware store. Get a cheap one it will work fine. Read the directions with it. And respect electricity...

Bosch SHX46A05UC/30 runs for 4 hours.

The circut board in the biege plastic case under the buttons on the right has what is called a cold solder. In other words the solder melts under operational use. Some are repairable and some are not.

1. UNPLUG DISHWASHER or turn off breaker and test for electricity.
2. Remove screws from door panel.
3. Take pic of position of wires going into plastic box.
4. Remove top section of plastic box with buttons exposing small circut board.
5. Open plastic box exposing large circut board and in the middle of it you will see a black spot where the solder has popped. Resolder and reassemble OR replace old circut board and then reassemble.

A new circut board is about $135
Usually electrical parts are not returnable

GE 2200 Dishwasher-no power at all, circuit breakers are fine, switch works

with your volt/ohm meter check for power going to the dishwasher. the power supply is located under the kick panel. the power wire may be shorted out due to poor installation. if you are not comfortable testing power, I would advise calling a professional. If no power is found at the power box (this has a power cord or electrical wire going to it) the problem lies within your house electric. if 120 volts is present, check for power @ the door switch. aftrer that you just need to follow the power wire and see where it stops
If this is a newly built house and new to you the builder may have put a light switch above your counter ,the one you didn't think went to anything, check for that! good luck with it!
