Hi!
If it's a Casio S500, it could be damaged CCD or just loose connection between the CCD and motherboard. You should take off the front cover and see the two cables on the left of the lens - I would recommend you using tweezers to reconnect the cables. If this doesn't help, you should get a replacement CCD. You can contact your local Casio service center, look for CCD (could come with lens) on eBay or contact me at toms.safranovs@gmail.com.

Hope this helps!

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Experiment with lowering the "exposure compensation" setting until you get the desired results. Also, don't forget to use a tripod.

You have defective Convergence IC's. It's best to have a service company verify and do the repair if you wish. Normally runs about $250.00

What are the basic settings I should have the powershot sd 1000 on? My pictures are blurry and the color is not very good.

If you have it on auto the you have no settings. If you have it on manual then you can change the white balance to correct for the colors, also try increasing the ISO, that will give you a quicker shutter and help cut down on bury shots

Hey miranda, I have 3 of these players in my home and every time there is a problem with them we find that if we HOLD the power button in and keep it in until it shuts off (while the button is still pressed), it seems to reset any problems we have encountered. worth a try
