Cleaning with a soft cloth (if not wet / dipped in cleaning fluid / microfiber cloth) should not do anything to the lens. are the contacts on the lens and on the camera clean? is it dark when you look through the viewer? What camera are you using? if D300 have you switched to Live View inadvertently?

I would test the lense on another camera (a friend? the shop next door?)
If it still does not work I only see sending it to the manufacturer for repair... through the shop you bought it or by contacting Nikon (it is a Nikon lense isn't it?) They can tell you how to get the lense to them (if it is not under garantee anymore, it can be cheaper sending it yourself than giving it to a shop - they may want to cash in on the repair too)

Remove the lenses in front of the bulb and carefully clean them with a soft cotton cloth. NEVER use paper to clean a lens. It will ruin the lens by scratching the surface of the lens.

Need to know how to fix a blurry screen

be very careful if cleaning the screen---any chemical can destroy the coating on the outside of it.

Usually just a lens cloth and or a damp soft cloth are used.

Try lens cloth first.

Dirt in the lens of my panasonic DMC ZS3

I recommend buy a Cleaning lens kit to better cleaning
Kit contains: Cleaning cloth + cleaning fluid

If you have not the Kit cleaning.

Turn ON the camera
Using a soft cloth (If you can use a lens cleaning cloth) add five drops on cloth

Softly rub the cloth on the lens
using other dry cloth, softly dry the lens

I need instructions on how to clean the lens on a Panasonic DVD Recorder Model # DMR-EZ17. he manual says to use the DVD lens cleaner. We bought the unit two years ago and I don't know what the lens...

Radio Shack ($13)
The lens cleaner is a CD "Audio" disc that has some imbedded brushes on one of the audio tracks.

Read the instructions carefully (no harm if it's not done right). Turn ON your speakers or listen to the CD/Cleaner through your headphones. There are no chemicals involved, and can be used several times.

The problem (darkness) may not go away.
It seems more like the voltage level on the DVD output or the TV input is too low.

If you have several things connected to the DVD, disconnect them, except the TV.
If you have other devices turned on that are connected to the TV, turn them OFF (like a VCR or another DVD player, etc).

Please "comment" back...

Hope this helps!

Olympus 795 sw lens moisture

• Wipe gently with a soft cloth. If the camera is very dirty, soak the cloth in mild soapy water and wring well.
Wipe the camera with the damp cloth and then dry it with a dry cloth. If you have used the camera at the beach, use a cloth soaked in clean water and wrung well.
• If any dirt, dust, sand, or other foreign material adheres to the periphery of the lens cover after use, or the lens cover does not move smoothly, wash the camera using the method described on P. 66.
• Wipe gently with a soft cloth.
• Blow dust off the lens with a commercial blower, then wipe gently with a lens cleaner.
• Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
• Do not use strong solvents such as benzene or alcohol, or chemically treated cloth.
• Mold may form on the lens surface if the lens is left dirty.
