Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P72 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera Despair I have a Sony cybershot DSC-W70. It was bought last year in october from St.Martin, The camera fell on it's lense when taking pics and for a while, it wasn't taking pics...error was appearing on the screen and it was sticking out even when the power was off, but the everything else was working on the camera. This happened all after having the camera for only about 2 mths.I was freaking out. So in a haste I found a local camera repair shop, which in the end made the situation even worse, although they did fix the lense of the camera........after calling them repeatedly to keep me up to date on the camera.......they damaged my menu....I was so pissed..still all i cud was take none of the other features are working except the lense......the irony......My mom decided to send back the camera to St. Martin earlier this year in the shop where it was purchased to see what they could do...which was nothing......wasted the camera has returned back to me......I mean it took dem 5 mths to realise they could do nothing. Now the camera.........isn't working because it was turned off so long for the 5 mth period it was away that the clock needs setting on the camera.......and seeing as the men isn't working....I can't do nothing about it plus........the setting wouldn't disappear from screen so neither can i take photos.........and I really want to know if there is any help for me and my camera........I would hate to see all that money go down the drain.

Re: Camera Despair

It sounds as if the internal firmware of your camera is damaged, you'll need to send it to Sony for evaluation and repair - there are no short-cuts, sorry.

Sony DSC-W70 digital camera - Lens attempts to open when pressing the power button but fails with a message to turn off and back on again. Bought a new battery and still does the same thing. Sometimes...

That's a common problem on Cybershot cameras, happened to me twice, the solution is to get it to a camera shop for repair.
The cause could be dirt or a malfunction on the lens extending mechanism.

If the lens is stuck, you might have to get a new camera. Or you can take it to a local repair shop. Or you can look it up online

Sony Cybershot DSC-W70

Hey kimmc279,
According to the manufacturer the file error message should mean the camera experienced an error while trying to read the file. One thing you could try is formatting your memory stick in camera, and of course upload any images you have on it to your computer first. If that didn't work I would try initializing the camera back to factory settings, which can be done in the setup menu. I hope this helps!
